Walking Worthy

Walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him. – Colossians 1:10

Taking a long walk with someone you love is one of the ways to create closeness and connectivity. The rest of the world becomes irrelevant as you go along, hearts pumping and feet rhythmically hitting the ground, whether enjoying conversation or in quietness. Walking together is companionship in motion and a picture of relational intimacy.

In the Bible, the analogy of walking with God generally refers to a lifestyle of seeking Him, becoming acquainted across time, as you would with a companion on a long journey. For example, in the Old Testament, Enoch walked along so closely with God, he ended up strolling right into heaven one day! However, there are those who choose to detour away from God on their life journey. Ephesians chapter two describes that path, “Dead in trespasses and sins following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit at work in the sons of disobedience” (v. 1).

For the follower of Christ, God’s Spirit will guide you to go in the ways that please your Creator, Father. He helps you avoid pitfalls that derail many, those things that feed the flesh and disable your soul. His path may be narrow, and the way goes through rocky hard places, yet it leads to safety and His righteousness and blessing.
