Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice. –
John 18:37
The art of editing is said to be an invisible one. A good editor cleans up the noise and leaves a clear view of the writer’s meaning. So much of your life arrives via text or email, the message usually gets through, but have you noticed how much interpretation you have to do? Not in just spelling and punctuation but also in emojis and acronyms, getting the right message is not always easy!
In your spiritual life, editing skills could be an issue! God’s word is designed to get into your life, “All scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16-17). Scripture was meant to change you and transform your life into a witness of God’s message. But today, many edit scripture to accommodate a pet sin or make room for popular idols. God’s word is intended to edit your life, not the other way around.
The most beautiful voice in the universe is that of Jesus saying, “Come unto me and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). Once you hear His voice, you must decide how to respond to what He says. “Whoever keeps His word, in him truly the love of God is perfected… whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked” (1 John 2:5-6).
Pray for teachers of the Word of God in America to be faithful to the full gospel of Christ, even when it is unpopular. Ask the Lord to raise up leaders in both church and government who are dedicated to the truth found in His Word, the Holy Bible.
