Galatians 5:22-26 (readers)
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
23 gentleness’s, self-control; against such things, there is no law.
24 Now those who belong to Christ Jesus crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
25 If we live by the Spirit, let’s follow the Spirit as well.
26 Let’s not become boastful, challenging one another, envying one another.
Ice Breaker
Hold up an apple and hold up an orange to the children.
Ask
Can apples come from orange trees or oranges come from apple trees?
We are all different
Every believer in the Lord has these characteristics.
A characteristic is a fruit or trait,
An example of that would be. Chinese people have slanted eyes.
The bible teaches we produce all these fruits.
Love
Joy
Peace
Patience
Kindness
Goodness
Faithfulness
Gentleness
Self-Control
So, if you don’t know the Lord what kind of fruit do you produce?
Luk 6:43 (Reader)
“For there is no good tree that bears bad fruit, nor, on the other hand, a bad tree that bears good fruit.
A TREE AND ITS FRUIT
Matthew 17:15-20 reader)
15 “Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves.
16 You will know them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thornton bushes, nor figs from thistles, are they?
17 So every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit.
19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 So then, you will know them by their fruits.
So today we are looking at the first fruit.
22a. But the fruit of the Spirit is love
After we believe in Jesus, he puts His spirit in us and it gives us these fruits of the spirit.
There are some things we can not do apart from these traits.
For example, it is impossible to forgive without love.
There would be no Godly affection.
There would be nothing but hatred in the world.
Turn to Matthew 22:37-39
37 And He said to him, “‘YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.’
38 This is the great and foremost commandment.
39 The second is like it, ‘YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.’
How do you know what love looks like?
We can say we know by looking to God but what about our actions.
The bible says if we say we love God but hate our brother we make God a liar.
Example:
Tortilla slap, Two teachers or LITs.
Hug…
What shows you more love…...?
1 John 4:7-11
7 Beloved, let’s love one another; for love is from God, and everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.
8 The one who does not love does not know God, because God is love.
9 By this the love of God was revealed in us, that God has sent His only Son into the world so that we may live through Him.
10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
1 John 3:16, 18
16 We know love by this, that He laid down His life for us; and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers and sisters
18 Little children, let’s not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth.
We know love comes from God and we know God showed His love to us.
How did Jesus show his love to us?
Jesus showed His love for us when He went to the cross.
Because of it, we can have eternal life.
So, we can show love to each other by putting others first…
How do we come to love others?
We must accept Jesus into our hearts.
What does that mean?
Passing love from one to the other
Pass out
1Corinthians 13:1-8,13
THE EXCELLENCE OF LOVE
1 If I speak with the tongues of mankind and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.
2 If I have the gift of prophecy and know all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.
3 And if I give away all my possessions to charity, and if I surrender my body so that I may glory, but do not have love, it does me no good.
4 Love is patient, love is kind, it is not jealous; love does not brag, it is not arrogant.
5 It does not act disgracefully, it does not seek its own benefit; it is not provoked, does not keep an account of a wrong suffered, 6 it does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; 7 it keeps every confidence, it believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
8 Love never fails; but if there are gifts of prophecy, they will be done away with; if there are tongues, they will cease; if there is knowledge, it will be done away with.
9 For we know in part and prophecy in part;
10 but when the perfect comes, the partial will be done away with.
11 When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, think like a child, and reason like a child; when I became a man, I did away with childish things.
12, For now, we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I will know fully, just as I also have been fully known.
13 But now faith, hope, and love remain, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
Great Job everyone
Love is a command from God.
Every day we make choices for love when we are honest, giving, trustworthy, and putting others first.
So, how can you show love this week?
