SURROUNDED

When surrounded by the enemy's army, DO NOT BE AFRAID! Just as Elisha asked God to open his servant's eyes, let's ask the Lord to open our eyes so we may see that there are MORE WITH US than those against us!

Keep looking up!!

This is such a great story! 2 Kings 6: 14-16 Elisha and his servant find themselves surrounded by the Syrian army, and Elisha’s servant is terrified. "There was an army surrounding the city with horses and chariots,' and his servant said to him, 'Alas, my master! What shall we do?" And Elisha looks at his servant and says, “Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” Right now, Elisha's servant is probably thinking, "What's happening? We're outnumbered! It's just the two of us versus their massive army!" And he's likely scratching his head, thinking, "Elisha, the 'amazing prophet,' might be wise, but he seems a bit lost right now. Then, Elisha prayed, saying, "Lord, I pray, open his eyes that he may see", then his servant's eyes popped wide open, and he saw this mind-blowing sight, there were fiery horses and chariots, just everywhere around Elisha.

"When the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha." The servant caught a glimpse of the spiritual realm, and it completely shifted his perspective. Suddenly, he realized that God's army was surrounding him, and in fact, they outnumbered those fighting against them.

The story is incredible, and it doesn't stop there. Elisha prays for the enemy soldiers to be struck with blindness, and God answers by making them blind.

Elisha then leads them to Samaria to present them to the King of Israel.

There, he prays again so they can regain their sight and instructs the king to provide food and water for them before letting them go. This helps create peace and prevents further conflict. I'm curious about what the Syrian army was thinking when they were ready to attack just two people. Then, they're struck with blindness, and when they regain their sight, they're standing in front of the king of Israel. They probably thought it was the end for them, about to be killed. Instead, they're fed and set free. It's amazing how God works in such surprising ways. Lord, I pray that You open our spiritual eyes and help us see, just like You did with Elisha's young servant. Help us see that when we are surrounded by the enemy, You have a stronger and bigger army of fiery horses around us, ready to defend us. Thank You, Lord, that when we pray, we can trust that You are ready to listen and answer our prayers, just as You did with Elisha. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

"We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed" 2 Cor 4:8-9

"For the LORD your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory."

Deu 20:4

GOD IS WITH US! Keep fighting the good battle of faith!! KEEP LOOKING UP!

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." (John 3:16-18)
