RENEWING OG THE MIND

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. – Romans 12:2

Where do you really “dig in?” Many invest themselves in their vocation, others in electronics or games, but some seek knowledge and understanding. Pursuing knowledge is a quest based on the belief that truth may be found! Those who search for reality may find themselves at odds with society as they question everything, even the “sacred cows“ of science and conventional wisdom. Today, it is popular to ascribe truth as merely a perspective, as in “your truth and my truth.”

However, for those following Christ, truth is more than a deeply held belief, it is an experience in encountering God.

Acts chapter 10 recounts the story of a devout man who feared God but was missing important information. Cornelius was a genuine seeker of God and characteristically God responded to his lack miraculously. Cornelius was led to the apostle Peter and, at the same time, Peter was led to minister to him without reserve. In the end, Cornelius and his friends and family became the first recorded Gentiles to receive the Holy Spirit.

Do you desire the ability to judge well, separating fact from fiction and truth from error? If so, ask God for the spiritual gift of discernment. Like Cornelius, your request will be answered! All discernment is found by bringing your thoughts and ideas in alignment with Christ. His Spirit will guide you to the people and information you need.

Pray first for yourself, asking God to give you a keen sense of discernment, revealing where you lack insight.
