Give credit where credit is due.

When someone makes an idea better, they deserve the credit. This is huge! People are motivated when their good work is acknowledged. Tom Peters had it right when he said, “Weed out the dullards and nurture the nuts.”

ANONYMOUS GENEROSITY

Charles Spurgeon and his wife, according to a story in a magazine, would sell but refused to give away, the eggs their chickens laid.

Even close relatives were told, "You may have them if you pay for them." As a result, some people labeled the Spurgeons greedy. The couple accepted the criticism without defending themselves.

It was only after Mrs. Spurgeon died that the full story was revealed. All the profits from the sale of eggs went to support two elderly widows. Because the Spurgeons were unwilling to let their "left hand" know what the "right hand" was doing (see Matthew 6:3), they endured the attacks in silence.

We'd all like a reputation for generosity, and we'd all like to buy it cheap.

*Friendship isn’t a big thing, it’s a million little things.

If you wish to know God, you must know His Word.

~C. H. Spurgeon~

Just like the burning bush in the biblical book of Exodus, the bush burned but the flames did not consume it. Character sustains itself and nurtures itself even as it is being put to work, tested, and challenged. And once character is formed, it will serve as a solid, lasting foundation upon which to build the life you desire.

You never stop learning. You are never too old to learn. It is important to maintain a steady and consistent momentum of learning if you want to achieve balance. Education is not limited to degrees and credentials. It may also include learning a new skill, enhancing those things you are already good at, or just reviewing what you already know.

The believer is not redeemed by obedience to the law but he is redeemed unto it.

~John Murray~

What mission are you on? The mission of the Lord and the word or the mission of your church and pastor.

The hour is marked and the moment reserved. Judgment is not a possibility but a stark reality. This is God’s promise: He will forever balance the scales of fairness. And because God’s promises are unbreakable our hope is unshakable!

You and I are privileged to know the love of Christ, not just as an intricate idea, but also as something to be felt, treasured, and embraced. Yet, even in the realm of personal knowledge, there is always more of Christ’s love to be experienced.

Ah! How foolish we are! How we repeat the folly of our first parent every day when we seek to hide sin from conscience, and then think it is hidden from God.

~C. H. Spurgeon~

To be grateful to God's servants is to be grateful to God; and it follows that in a very real sense we thank God when we thank His people! We will always have spiritual leaders, and I think we make two mistakes in our attitudes toward them. One is not being sufficiently grateful to them. The other is in following them too slavishly. The first is a sin of omission, and because it is something that is not there, it is not likely to be noticed as a sin that is plainly present. We do make a serious mistake when we become so attached to the preaching or writing of a great Christian leader that we accept his teaching without daring to examine it. We should follow men only as they follow the Lord. We should keep an open mind lest we become blind followers of a man whose breath is in his nostrils. Learn from every holy man and his ministry. Be grateful to every one of them and thankful for them - and then follow Christ!

A. W. Tozer Sermon: Let Us Be Thankful

When we call Jesus "Lord", it is to willingly be His subject, His disciple, and His follower. However, the gift of Jesus is not just His sacrificial love or the teaching of His words and life -- it is also His empowerment to "go and in the same way..."

Hemingway once defined "courage" as "grace under pressure." I think it's also true that "grace" enables "courage under pressure." For followers of Jesus, that is the power to be courageous for good in spite of all the pressure to do the opposite.

“Trust Jesus, I implore you. He is worthy of your trust, for he is the Son of God, and he has died to put away the guilt of all who trust him.”

- Charles Spurgeon

“To be a Christian means to forgive the inexcusable, because God has forgiven the inexcusable in you.”

—C.S. Lewis

Daily living by faith in Christ is what makes the difference between a sickly and a healthy Christian, between the defeated and victorious saint.

~A. W. Pink~

When it comes to the subject of studying Bible prophecy, sometimes we miss the point. We can become obsessed with things that we think are fulfillments of Bible prophecy but actually are not. We forget that Bible prophecy is not given to inflate our brains but to enlarge our hearts.

The wounds we carry with us are not obstacles to simply get over. Rather, our wounds are the way through. Our wounds aren’t something to hide or deny; instead, they are sacred parts of who we are and the testaments of our journeys.

Loss is a gift wrapped in thorns. Loss changes and transforms us… into Christ’s likeness if we let it. It can forge compassion in our hearts and soften the hard places of pride and self-sufficiency. Loss reveals that we are not alone on this journey, but that Jesus is right here with us!

God sends no one away empty except those who are full of themselves.

— D. L. Moody
