Keep In Step

If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit. – Galatians 5:25

The verse says to keep in step with the Spirit. How do you do that? Earlier verses read, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things, there is no law” (Galatians 5:22-23). When you commit your life to Jesus, you forfeit the law as the way of salvation. Now, your relationship with God is a matter of the heart. He changes you inwardly. As you act out of love for God and others, your life changes.

How do you act from love? By His grace, you walk in joy and peace. You are patient, kind and do good to others. You are able to temper your emotions and have the discipline to overcome the desires of the flesh. You are faithful to God and to others. You are gentle, considering others as important as yourself. As John says, “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God” (1 John 4:7).

Life in Christ is one that is dead to selfish desires and the ways of the world. It is a fulfilling life with God the Father working everything for your good. So keep in step with the Spirit by presenting your life as a living sacrifice to the One who is worthy of all honor, praise, and complete devotion.
