Judas calls Jesus his Rabbi

The King James Version uses the word, "Master," but either one gives the real sense of the word; in Greek, this word means, "someone who is highly esteemed or honorable." It is so hypocritical for the man who betrays Jesus to call Him Master.

Judas was really giving Him some lip service, as a lot of people do. But for worldly possessions or pride, or whatever reason, he betrayed Him -- Judas turned his back on the Lord.

You see, calling Jesus your Lord is supposed to mean something. These aren't just empty words we throw out there to impress people. It isn't some religious or "Christian" jargon we use. Calling Jesus our Master means that we are living according to and following what He taught us. Loving Jesus and serving Him for life is what this life is all about.

And I'm afraid many people will see the end of their days and be confronted with the stark reality that they were never truly followers of Jesus Christ. While they gave lip service, they were "playing Christian" and not living with Jesus as Lord of their lives.

"But He will say, 'I tell you I do not know you, where you are from. Depart from Me, all you workers of iniquity'" (Luke 13:27).
