God is Great

For you are great and do wondrous things.

Psalm 86:10

God is great and does wondrous things. He is great in character—loving, forgiving, holy. He has done great things—created the universe, put order to world events, and redeemed the world through Christ. However, His greatness and wonder are also found in small things—a baby’s giggle, a kind deed, a supplied need. Look around you and spot the wondrous things God is doing in your life and express your gratitude.

The people, provisions, and events that give you pleasure are blessings from God. The character He works in you when things are not going your way is also His gift. Give Him thanks for health, friends, family, and your church. 1 Timothy 6:6 says, “Godliness with contentment is great gain.”

When Paul said that he can do all things in Christ (Philippians 4:13) he referred to being content in every situation. Yet Jesus also encouraged His disciples to press into His grace, asking, seeking, and knocking for good and godly things (Matthew 7:7).

As you grow in Him, you realize the most important things are unseen (2 Corinthians 4:18). Seek the Lord for answers and solutions for the issues and needs of the United States, its government officials, and its citizens. Give thanks to the unseen God who is great and does wondrous things.

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God” (Colossians 3:16).
