We have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus. – Hebrews 10:19
Bart Millard’s hit song “I Can Only Imagine” describes how awesome and overwhelming it will be in God’s presence. Yet, that is exactly where a believer goes in prayer. Today’s verse reminds you that, in Christ, you can enter the holy place. What a privilege each believer has when they belong to Him!
Why would any believer not accept and use this precious gift? Some believers are so busy that they may think they do not have the time to pray. Others might think, God knows what I am going to ask, so why ask it? Or, the Lord is sovereign and going to do what He wants whether I pray or not. Some people may doubt that the Lord is listening when they pray. Christians may often grapple with thoughts like these.
Remember the apostle Peter’s words, “The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayer” (1 Peter 3:12). Jesus promises, “If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it” (John 14:14). In the Lord’s prayer, Jesus instructs His disciples to ask for their needs to be met and for the Father’s will to be done on Earth (Matthew 6:9-13), which implies that some things within God’s plan may not happen unless you ask.
Everyone fills the allotted twenty-four hours in their day with what is important to them. You need God’s help all the more if your life is busy. Go to the One who is most worthy of your time and is able to give you the answers you need. Ask Him to help you be faithful in prayer. Be confident that He hears you when you ask for mercy, grace, and help. (Hebrews 4:16).
