As a Hen Gathers Her Chicks

When Jesus spoke the words, "How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing!" is a powerful declaration of Jesus' love for the people of Jerusalem, and indeed - for all of us!! It is a reminder that Jesus desires to gather us under His protection, just as a mother hen gathers her chicks under her wings.

When He said this, He was expressing His deep longing to bring the people of Jerusalem into his loving care. Despite their rejection of Him and the prophets that God had sent to them, Jesus still loved them deeply and wanted to care for them.

Jesus' use of the word "often" indicates the persistence of His longing to gather the people together. It suggests that Jesus had repeatedly tried to reach out to them, to draw them close to Himself, and to offer them His love and grace. It reveals his unending compassion and tireless efforts to bring them into his arms, despite their resistance and rejection.

The phrase "but you were not willing" highlights the free will of the people and their refusal to accept Jesus' invitation. It conveys a sense of sorrow and disappointment on Jesus' part, as He genuinely desired to gather them together, but they chose not to accept His love and salvation.

This statement is a powerful declaration of Jesus' love for us. It is a reminder that no matter how far we may have strayed from Him, His love for us never fades, and He is always ready to gather us under His wings and bring us back into His loving care. It conveys the idea that Jesus desires to protect us from harm, to comfort us in times of distress, and to guide us towards the path of salvation.

Jesus' love for us is so great that He was willing to lay down his life for us. As He said in John 15:13, "Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends."

Through His death on the cross, Jesus demonstrated the depth of his love and his willingness to gather us under his wings, even at the cost of his own life.

Be willing to believe that He died on the cross for your sins, was buried, and rose again to give you everlasting life.

He is coming soon to gather us all up in the air and bring us to heaven to be with the Father!!
