All the way my Savior leads me

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you. – Psalm 32:8

“All the way my Savior leads me, what have I to ask beside?” That old hymn by Fannie Crosby, one of the thousands she composed, is an acknowledgment of her teachable spirit. She knew that God had mapped out her life’s journey. So should you. It is His desire to be your Guide, to get you from wherever you are now to where you are ultimately going. He knows the dangers, the pitfalls, the necessary detours. He is right beside you all the way, but the extent to which He is guiding you depends upon you.

There is an old children’s Sunday School chorus that says, “My Lord knows the way through the wilderness. All I have to do is follow.” Tomorrow is a wilderness—you may think you know what is ahead of you, but you really don’t. You can plan but, unless God is in your plans and has ordained them for you to walk in, you have no assurance they will be accomplished. Your only hope for the future rests in Him, “guiding you, teaching you, counseling you.”

Who is your guide today? Are you submitting yourself to the leading of God, or are you trying to have it your own way? Take time to be in His Word and in prayer. Listen, then let Him take the lead while you follow.
