After Jesus' Resurrection

After Jesus' resurrection, Thomas doubted. He was really committed to Jesus, but he struggled with doubts and questions. His doubt wasn't in opposition to the truth it was a truth-loving quest. Jesus met him in his doubt and helped him persevere. He is the perfecter of our faith! When Jesus appeared to his disciples for the first time, Thomas wasn't there for this visitation. When they told him all about Jesus, Thomas "doubted" and wanted physical proof of the risen Lord - in order to believe the good news.

Jesus didn't have to fulfill Thomas' request, He wasn't obligated at all. It should have been enough for Thomas after spending three years with Jesus and having witnessed all His miracles and hearing all the prophecies of His death of resurrection.

Jesus knew about Thomas' weakness, just as He knows ours.

The doubt that Thomas experienced after facing the heartbreaking loss of the One he loved, is similar to our own when we experience, despair, heartbreak, and extreme sorrow. Although we have the Spirit living inside of us - the one who helps us and guides us - we can still experience doubt. This doubt however does not affect our eternal standing with God.

True saving faith always perseveres to the end - just as Thomas' did, and just as Peter did after he had a monumental moment of weakness by denying the very Lord he loved and believed in.

This is because “he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus” (Philippians 1:6).

Jesus is “the author and perfecter of our faith” (Hebrews 12:2).

Faith is the gift of God to His children (Ephesians 2:8-9), and He will mature and perfect it until He returns!!

KEEP LOOKING UP!! HE'S COMING!!
