WISDOM IN THE LORD

For the Lord gives wisdom.     – Proverbs 2:6

When you turn on your garden hose do you expect crystal rivulets of artesian water to trickle out?

Probably not, yet many people scroll endlessly on the internet expecting the answer to life’s most pressing problems to pop up next.

The Old Testament offers a glimpse into a young king’s private search for wisdom.

Solomon, David’s son, had just ascended to the throne. The Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Ask what I shall give you.” (1 Kings 3:5).  Solomon answered, “Give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong” (1 Kings 3:9, NIV).

History records Solomon as possibly the wisest man to ever live. And while many voices influenced his life and he did not always follow what he knew to be right, God never left him without the insight he requested.

Would you like to have a deeper understanding of the challenges of life?

The first step is going directly to the source.

Only God has the answer to the issues you face each day, as well as the problems you see playing out in the news. Boldly bring all that concerns you to God in prayer, and ask for Him to lead your thoughts and actions.

“Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who gets understanding, for the gain from her is better than silver or gold” (Proverbs 3:13-14).
