QUOTES

Updated: Mar 8

If we claim to follow Christ, then the way we connect with others will reflect that. Be intentional and creative with your actions and let the Love of Christ flow through you.

When a person is filled with the Holy Spirit, what will the results be in his life? What evidences will develop to validate the work of the Spirit in fullness? In some church traditions, which give considerable attention to the fullness of the Spirit, limited evidences are stressed (such as those mentioned often in Acts: tongues, prophecy, or boldness). The full biblical picture is much larger than this viewpoint.

God has many names. He is Elohim – the Creator, El Elyon – God Most High, El Roi – the God who sees, El Shaddai – the All-Sufficient One, Adonai – the Lord, Jehovah – the Self-Existent One, Jehovah-Jireh –the Lord Will Provide, Jehovah – Rapha – the Lord who heals, Jehovah—Shalom – the Lord is peace, Jehovah-Raah – the Lord my Shepherd, and many more.

In the New Testament, Jesus introduced a new name for God – Father. In the Gospel of John alone, God is referred to as Father at least 120 times. It is the name that Jesus referred to more than any other and the name that He invites us to use to address the Creator of the Universe. Just stop and think about that for a moment. The God of the universe who created the heavens and the earth, who always has been and always will be, who is all-knowing, all powerful, and present everywhere at once – that same God invites you to call Him Abba Father. He invites you to call Him Daddy! Build your relationship with the God Head the trinity.

Life isn't measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.

There is no place to be proud of any position in the church or Christian fellowship; it will only breed spiritual disease in you and others.

If everything that this world values will disappear, we are fools if we do not set our minds on what pleases the Lord.

If you let bitterness go unchecked, it could lead you to take the next step—and to something even worse.

People know it is bad to worry, there is lot of advice to remind us that we shouldn't worry. Lot of this advice is rather meaningless.

Satan's two great lies try to convince us that God is pleased with us because we are so good, or that we can never reach His standard.

Christians, who have no expectation that their labour for God will make a difference, have missed the point of ministry.

Both God's enabling and our out-working is necessary for spiritual growth.

When asked how you are doing, always incorparate your business. to your answer. Saying your doing great does not say why you are great.

"Reread Matthew 19:6 carefully. You and your spouse are one, joined together by God, not to be separated by anyone.

This is a new day. Get ready for God to do new things in your life.

The church is one body—you cannot tough a toe without

affecting the whole body.

~Friedrich Tholuck~

As members of the body of Christ, we need to remember, when the church is edified, we are all edified. Because we are all individual parts of the body, we all benefit when the body is healthy and strong. When even one part of the body is weak, we all suffer, so it is always better to build up the church, the body of Christ, for it builds up and benefits all.

Prayer makes a difference because God has determined to make a difference. Prayer matters because you matter to God.

Max Lucado

It is impossible to rightly govern the world without

God and the Bible.

~George Washington~

Be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting to one another in the fear of God. (Ephesians 5:18-21)

"Do not confuse motion and progress. A rocking horse keeps moving but does not make any progress." ~ Alfred Montapert

"Sometimes You Will Never Know The Moment Until It Become a Memory." ~ Anonymous

Faith gives feet to the soul, enabling it to march along the road of the commandments. Love can make the feet move more swiftly; but it is faith that carries the soul. Faith is the oil enabling the wheels of holy devotion and of practical holiness to move well; and without faith the wheels are taken from the chariot, and we drag ourselves along. With faith I can do all things; without faith I will be missing both the inclination and the power to do anything in the service of God.

by Alistair Begg

Why did Jesus live on the earth as long as He did? To take on our sins is one thing; to experience death, yes, but to put up with long roads and long days? Why did He do it? Because He wants you to trust Him. Even His final act on earth was intended to win your trust.~ From He Chose the Nails

do not forget your sword—the Word of God—when you go out into the world. It is your only protection against the enemy. As long as you have God’s Word, you do not need to fear man.

Pastor Raul Ries

Either you will decide to fill your mind with junk, or you will decide to guard your mind and fill it with the Word of God and make right decisions for right living.

Pastor Greg

SO...YOU ARE GAY...

(various family members, friends and other acquaintances)...

WHAT SHOULD YOU EXPECT OF ME

1. I WILL LOVE YOU.

2. I WILL TREAT YOU WITH RESPECT AND DIGNITY.

3. I WILL DEFEND YOU AGAINST ATTACK.

4. I WILL PRAY FOR YOU.

5. I WILL SEEK AN OPPORTUNITY TO SHARE THE GOSPEL WITH YOU.

6. I WILL BE HONEST WITH YOU.

7. I WILL BE YOUR FRIEND.

WHAT SHOULD YOU NOT EXPECT FROM ME?

1. TO HATE YOU.

2. TO TREAT YOU WITH DISRESPECT.

3. TO ATTACK YOU.

4. TO ENCOURAGE YOU IN HOMOSEXUALITY OR ANY OTHER SIN.

5. TO BE YOUR ENEMY.

6. TO LIE TO YOU.

When you think about it, "conditional love" just doesn't make sense. Still, as humans we have a tendency to act out love based on how much we feel like it.

That tendency, while human, is not the kind of love God calls us to in marriage.

In marriage you and your spouse will share many unloveable moments. We all make mistakes, we all have weird quirks, bad habits, and unattractive qualities.

But when you love each others' souls, your flaws don't dictate whether or not you act in love.

Love overlooks flaws, deals with sin kindly and directly, and seeks full health and reconciliation according to God's word.

Joy comes not from your circumstances, but from the abundance of blessings God has lavished upon you and all of His people through Christ Jesus. God’s blessings will take root in your heart. Joy will not only happen, but it’ll give you the proper attitude as you pray.

Don’t tell me about what you gave up for Jesus; tell me what He gave up for you. Don’t tell me what you have done for Jesus; tell me what Jesus has done for you. It is Jesus who has done the work. It is Jesus who matters. It is Jesus whom we are proclaiming.

A good, strong testimony will lift up what Christ has done for us. The fact of the matter is that all of us were sinners hopelessly separated from God, on our way to Hell. The same gospel came and transformed us. So we all have a testimony.

You may not be a great theologian. You may not know all of the verses in the Bible. But you do have a testimony. You have enough that has happened in your life that you can say, “Here is what Jesus did for me.” And that is a good place to start.

"Happily Ever After" is built on a lifetime of choices that say, "I love you" rather than choices that say, "I love me". ~ Matthew L. Jacobson

Your wedding day doesn't mark the end of your pursuit of each other. It's just the beginning. Pursuing your spouse means you realize that you can always love him/her more.

By pursuing your spouse, you're saying you can't get enough of them! You will never stop learning about them or learning what it means to love them.

The world doesn't understand Christian values. Why? Because it is largely unsaved. So no amount of activism on our part is going to change the current trends in our culture. The only thing that will is introducing people to a saving relationship with Jesus Christ.

There are no crown-bearers in heaven that were not cross-bearers here on earth.

~C.H. Spurgeon~

“Flatter me, and I may not believe you.
Criticize me, and I may not like you.
Ignore me, and I may not forgive you.
Encourage me, and I may not forget you.”
—William Arthur Ward

Christians constantly need to examine their hearts before the Lord. If you find yourself paying lip service to God without any real change or repentance, ask Him to help you change your life by the power of the Holy Spirit. We need the power of the Holy Spirit to live the Christian life.

No matter the challenges, frustrations, and opportunities you face, God wants to use them all to help you grow to be more like Jesus.

Any man who thinks that he deserves heaven is not a Christian. But for any man who knows that he deserves hell, there is hope. Out goes all your righteousness. It is all by grace.

Martyn Lloyd-Jones

On the other side of death, the Bible promises that all who know Him will fall into the open arms of a holy, loving, and gracious God—the greatest miracle, the answer to the problem of evil and suffering. He promises us an eternal kingdom on the New Earth.

Randy Alcorn

The quickest way to a peaceful mind is a prayerful heart

The Word is active, the Spirit is moving, Christ is saving, and God is reigning — sleep well tonight.

Dustin Benge

“No one’s words have been read more, studied more, quoted more, debated more, pondered more, written and lectured about more, translated into more languages, fueled more literacy efforts around the world, and shaped more diverse cultures than the words of Jesus.” —Jon Bloom

servanthood submission is a common attribute of one who is Spirit-filled: "submitting to one another in the fear of God." Natural humanity wants to control people and exercise mastery over them. The Spirit of Christ, the servant of all (Matthew 20:28), brings forth humble service from those who revere the Lord.

Not everything we might like to do is an area of giftedness. But so too, just because we like something doesn't mean we aren't good at it. Quite the opposite.

He is preeminent in creation because He is the Creator. He is preeminent in redemption for He is the Redeemer. He is preeminent in the church because He is the One who gave Himself for the church.

~J. Vernon McGee~

The power of God is never limited to one small speck of the universe.

God is both omnipotent and omnipresent. God’s presence is not limited; human presence is limited.

Sean McGeve

Paul did not begin by attacking the false teachers and their doctrines. He began by exalting Jesus Christ and showing His preeminence in five areas: the gospel message, redemption, creation, the church, and Paul’s own ministry.

~Warren W. Wiersbe~

Sin is serious––so serious it sent Jesus Christ to the cross. Flee from [sin] and stay close to Christ.

~Billy Graham~

Our views of the afterlife often make God an afterthought. We imagine reunions with loved ones, no disease, no pain, no sin, no suffering, no tears — all gloriously true! But Heaven is Heaven because God is there. ~ Dr. Luke Stamps,

Heaven is real. Heaven is a place. And, it's waiting for every single one of us. Although God's original design didn't include death, everybody is going to die. Just finished the Book of Joshuah with my wife I love when he said Choos you this day whom you will serve but as for me and my house we will serve the lord.

The end is never the end...

Don’t trust preachers that don’t trust the Bible.

“Human history is the long terrible story of man trying to find something other than God which will make him happy.” - C.S. Lewis

The power of Scripture:

1. It reveals God’s will.

2. It penetrates the heart.

3. It binds the conscience.

4. It reproves the wayward.

5. It divides truth from error.

6. It makes the world foolish.

7. It equips for every good work.

8. It proclaims salvation in Christ.

Young men, do not be deceived. Don't think that you can live with Esau, and then die with Jacob. -J.C. Ryle

A preoccupation with the things of this world will never satisfy our spiritual hunger. God has prepared for us in His Word all the food that we will ever need.

BEFORE YOU ASK GOD TO DELIVER YOU FROM THE STORMS, FIRST MAKE SURE YOU'VE LEARNED THE LESSONS THEY WERE SENT TO TEACH YOU.

"IF WE PRAYED FOR PEOPLE AS MUCH AS WE TALK ABOUT PEOPLE, THERE WOULD BE NO MORE GOSSIP.

I'M NOT BEING PICKY OR PETTY. GOD'S PURPOSE, PLANS, PROMISES, PROVISION, AND PROTECTION JUST MAKE ME EXTREMELY DICERNING OF THE PEOPLE I ALLOW THAT CLOSE!

BE PREPARED, IMMATURE PEOPLE OFTEN CONFUSE 'ACTING FUNNY', WITH GROWTH, DEVELOPMENT, AND MATURITY! BUT DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME TRYING TO EXPLAIN IT, UNTIL THEY PUT AWAY THEIR CHILDISH THINGS, THEY WILL NEVER GRASP THE CONCEPT.

Jesus lived and died so that we can experience abundant life. Jesus did not come so that we can merely survive life. Pagans can survive life. God’s plan is for us to experience joy and peace – no matter what life holds.

Our heavenly Father is not some far away God. He is near to us and we can approach Him, regardless of our needs.

Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ's body. We are many parts but one body.

The Bible teaches true believers, real genuine Christians, shall persevere in their walk to the end of their lives.

What God intends, he decrees; what God permits, He has foreseen.

~Arthur C. Custance~

*If you've been waiting for "someday” to be happy, make today your "someday”.

Jesus died for all of us - those who love Him, and those who hate Him. His love is that amazing!

There can be an unhealthy obsession with the details of the end times. That can be a distraction from the task at hand.

Trials are not given to make us weak, but to make us learn to wait. Jesus Christ wants to develop our faith.

Praising and adoring God is the noblest part of the saint’s

work on earth, as it will be his chief employ in heaven.

~A. W. Pink~

God’s people often forget their God, but God never forgets them. When Joseph was dropped into a pit by his own brothers, God didn’t give up. When Moses said, “Here am I, send Aaron,” God didn’t give up. When the delivered Israelites wanted Egyptian slavery instead of milk and honey, God did not give up. When Aaron was making a false god at the very moment Moses was with the true God, God did not give up.

Faith makes things possible, not necessarily easy.

"Preparation positions people correctly, and it is often the separation between winning and losing. Talent-plus people who prepare well live by this motto: 'All's well that begins well.'"

The thing that is really hard--and really amazing--is giving up on being perfect and beginning the work of becoming yourself!

I need frequent reminding God's dealings with his children are not based on deservedness but grace.

Legalism is like a low grade fever that keeps us living in a persistent "flu" of self condemnation.

You cannot kill time without injuring eternity. -Henry David Thoreau

That He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height—to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. (Ephesians 3:16-19)

As the prophetic calendar unwinds, consider the condition of your spiritual life? Are you ready for the return of Christ?

Reexamining and adjusting how you spend your time and energy can reap marvelous rewards both for the present and the future. Be thankful for your opportunities to read the Bible, meditate on His precepts, and approach Him in prayer.

Talking about the need for evangelism or designing programs to mobilize the church to do it is of no consequence if we lack one simple thing: a burden and a concern for unbelievers.

It is not about having time; it is about a lack of will.

It seems that all too often we are quick to pass judgment on a person, sometimes even ruining their reputation, before we have all the facts. A rush to judgment has destroyed many innocent people who were guilty of doing nothing wrong. How? Because they were tried in the court of rumor, innuendo and public opinion before they were given the opportunity to defend themselves.

Nothing binds a couple together with more strength and joy than shared faith in Christ and authentic friendship with each other.

Make time and take time to build your faith in Christ and friendship with each other. Every moment you spend investing in your affections for Jesus and your spouse is a moment well spent.

We cannot pursue knowledge of God in willful isolation. A complete understanding of the mystery of God comes with being part of a loving community of believers.

We live in a confused culture that DEMANDS equality for women while still using women as objects to be sold to consumers. —Josh Buice

“God's people have their trials. It was never designed by God, when he chose his people, that they should be an untried people. They were chosen in the furnace of affliction; they were never chosen to worldly peace and earthly joy. Freedom from sickness and the pains of mortality was never promised them; but when their Lord drew up the charter of privileges, he included chastisements amongst the things to which they should inevitably be heirs.” #Christ #Spurgeon

The Law tells me how crooked I am. Grace comes along

~D. L. Moody~

Followers of Christ, “Ye are the salt of the earth.” You help to preserve it, and to subdue the corruption that is in it.

~C.H. Spurgeon~

Ever have a week where the very thing that test you your heart is multiplied, like inconsiderate people and the lack of punctuality when a person commits themself. A ministry is a team operation so either you work together or somebody has to carry you. I am not venting just speaking truth.

The paradox of the Christian life is that we die to live, and we hide to let our lights shine. When we abide in Christ and grow deeper in our relationship with Him, we are hidden in a way that protects our souls from danger. We are in Christ, and nothing, not even Satan, can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:38-39). Ray Bently

God has called us to the work of leadership and is engaged with us as we do it, but to what end? What is the purpose of our being leaders in the first place? In contrast to seeing the leader as being the exclusive beneficiary of God’s attention and deliverance, the psalmist shifts the focus onto the people and places under the leader’s care. Using a rich set of imagery, the psalmist describes the flourishing of God’s people as “plants”, their function as architectural and artistic “pillars,” and the fruitfulness of the “provision” of the fields (Psalm 144:12-13). The purpose of leadership is to nurture and protect the people and the world God has made against the forces intent on their destruction (Psalm 144:14).

The Bible is not the light of the world, it is the light of the Church, but the world does not read the Bible, the world reads Christians!

“You are the light of the world.”

~C. H. Spurgeon~

We as Christians may not be seeking the latest thought on foreign gods (or "new age" beliefs), but we do have a tendency to fill ourselves with a lot of information about our faith. So my question for you today is not "What are you going to do about Jesus?" (because most of you have already accepted Him as your Lord and Savior). Rather, what are you going to do with the plethora of information you have accumulated over the years from Bible studies, sermons, devotions, the radio, etc.

"Two men look out the same prison bars; one sees mud and the other stars." Reverend Frederick Langbridge, (1849-1922)

They [people] will never accept grace until they tremble before a just and holy law.

~C. H Spurgeon~

The short-tempered person is given to fits of rage. Long-temperedness (patience) is part of the fruit of the Spirit as is gentleness and self-control. That fruit is produced in us as we walk under the Spirits control.

~A.W. Tozer~

Praying and fasting is a biblical practice that gives us the opportunity to focus on the Lord, allowing us to find extra time and energy to pray, hear God’s voice and experience His presence.

We cannot pray in love and live in hate and still think we are worshipping God.
