When the early disciples were freed from prison, they were not told to recruit members to a movement. Instead, they were instructed to "Go, stand in the temple and speak to the people all the words of this life" (Acts 5:20).

What you believe determines how you live.

When you seek Him, you will find him and when you are willing to step out into radical faith...faith that truly seeks Him above all else, you will be transformed...you will not be content to accept less than everything He has to offer you of Himself.

Always Be Willing to hear the other side! There are always to sides to a story!

Do you equate success with wealth, acclaim, and power? If we measured by these standards, then Jesus, who was rejected by His community and didn't even have a house of His own, was a failure. But, of course, we know that's not the case. So God must use something other than these worldly goals to define success. In fact, Scripture is clear that Jesus Christ is our example--we should strive to be like Him.

Get rid of the what ifs

Believe God has said

we are empowered to discipline our desires rather than be a prisoner to them.

We can all learn from the great leaders, who have godly values. To truly be a great leader, we must love and seek the best for all people, even our enemies.

Be not glad at the misfortune of another, though he may be

your enemy.

~George Washington~

Believe you can and you're halfway there.

C. S. Lewis wrote: “The moment you wake up each morning your wishes and hopes for the day rush at you like wild animals. And the first job of each morning consists in shoving them all back; in listening to that other voice, letting that other, stronger, larger, quieter life come flowing in.”

Spend time waiting on God. And, at the end of the day, thank God for the good parts. Question him about the hard parts. Seek his mercy. Seek his strength. And as you close your eyes, take this assurance into your sleep: “He who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep” (Psalm 121:4).

The Lord's new covenant of grace is a covenant of the Spirit: "[God] also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant…of the Spirit." Any approach to God other than by the Spirit results in spiritual deadness.

When you keep the Law without love it is Hypocrisy!

Your enemy is not flesh and blood, not the things of this world, but every thought, imagination, every “high thing” that wants to loom higher, loftier, and greater than the knowledge of God in your life.

What students would learn in American schools above all is the religion of Jesus Christ. It is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favors.

~George Washington~

You are the closest person to your spouse's heart. They've let you in, trusted you... given you access. Marriage is truly unlike every other human relationship.

The Lord may not always intervene in any problem or persecution we may encounter; however, He will always provide us with the strength to endure. Capturing the essence of this thought, nineteenth century clergyman Phillip Brooks (1836-1893) once wrote: "Do not pray for easy lives. Pray to be stronger men! Do not pray for tasks equal to your powers. Pray for power equal to your tasks." The true power we need to persevere, overcome or endure can only come from the Lord.

The first man (Adam) stole from the tree of life and was kicked out of paradise. The last Adam (Jesus Christ) said to the thief on the cross, "Today you will join me in paradise."

When you feel despair closing in, when you feel trapped or imprisoned, remember, you are rescued when you put your faith in Jesus. Don’t ever forget it. You have been rescued as sons and daughters with a powerful Father who loves you and invites you to live in His kingdom.

Christians should be springs, not sponges.

~John Blanchard~

The happy sequence culminating in fellowship with God is penitence, pardon, and peace - the first we offer, the second we accept, and the third we inherit.

~Charles Brent~

“Going to church doesn’t make you a Christian any more than going to a garage makes you an automobile.” Billy Sunday

We all deserve the harshest sentence possible because we all have sinned and death is the penalty. The only difference is salvation -- which is a gift offered by God to everyone. God did not call us to be judges.

“Other nations have been our teachers in art and wisdom and government. But Israel is our mistress in pain and patience.”

George Adam

Faith wraps itself in the righteousness of Christ.

~Thomas Brook~

Our belief about the Bible’s nature, inerrancy, and authority will inevitably determine whether we trust God’s Word or trust ourselves, whether we view Scripture as a binding decree from our divine Judge, or set ourselves up as Scripture’s judges

Randy Alcorn

Redemption does not only look back to Calvary. It looks forward to the freedom in which the redeem stand. Precisely because they have been redeemed at such a cost….

~Leon Lamb Morris

“Grace bases her teaching upon the great facts in which her first grand revelation of herself was made, and finds all her reaching power in those mighty memories.”

Jon Stott

Nine times out of ten, falling away from God begins in the neglect of private prayer.

Charles H. Spurgeon

The Bible has a way of putting more in a single sentence than other writers can put in a whole book. Yet there are some who would tell us that the Bible is no more God's book than other books. Either they have not read the Bible, or they have read it with their eyes closed.

R.A. Torrey

Being a “good Berean”

Means: “Does the sermon match the text?”

Not: “Does the sermon match my opinion?”

Dustin Benge

When Jesus finally came as the Lamb of God, He came not a moment too soon. And when He returns as the Lion, again it will be not a moment too soon—or too late.

Randy Alcorn

our conduct as Christians is expressed in the world by our relationships with others. Shouldn't there be some guidelines for our behavior? Guidelines, not rules as some would say. Jesus delivered us from Mosaic Law; He did not do so to place us under another legal system. Remember, the principles the word puts forth are a guide to the believer, not regulations. I once read, "The Holy Spirit provides the road map of life, showing the curves but not the speed limit." I think that pretty well sums up how we should approach the bible.

God has provided the safety of sound doctrine to rescue us from absolute ruin and destruction.

Heaven isn’t just our destination but it’s also motivation!

Prayer, as it comes from the saint, is weak and languid; but when the arrow of a saint's prayer is put into the bow of Christ's intercession it pierces the throne of grace.

~Thomas Watson~

I ask that our people devote themselves to a continuance of prayer. As we rise to each new day, and again when each day is spent, let words of prayer be on our lips.

~Franklin D. Roosevelt~

“Through the western window a solemn light streams from Mt. Calvary. Through the eastern window shines the light of the sun rising, the herald of a brighter day. Thus the school of Grace is well lighted, but we cannot afford to do without the light from either the west or the east.” —

Canon Hay Aitken

"The gospel is all about Christ from beginning to end."

No. Religion has nothing to do with God and keeps many away from God.

The sympathy which is reverent with what it cannot understand is worth its weight in gold.

Scottish theologian George Adam once wrote, “Other nations have been our teachers in art and wisdom and government. But Israel is our mistress in pain and patience.”

If you have fallen in any area of your life, take heart. Let God raise you up and know He will be your Light!

Replace our fears with faithand our unrest with perfect trust in You,who lives and governs all things, world without end.

~ John Wallace Suter (1859–1942), Adapted

Set free, O Lord, the souls of Your servantsfrom all restlessness and anxiety.Give us that peace and power which flow from You. Keep us in all perplexity and distress, that upheld by Your strengthand stayed on the rock of Your faithfulness,we may abide in You now and forevermore.

 ~ Francis Paget (1851–1911)

To You alone, O Jesus, I must cling; running to Your arms, dear Lord, there let me hide, safe from all fears, loving You with the tenderness of a child.

~ St. Thérèse of Lisieux (1873–1897)

You say that if I give You my burdens,You will take care of me.You say that I should cast all my cares upon You,

because You love me,because You can handle them all, and because it shows my faith in You.

A burden that is heavy enough to sink me is as light as a feather to You.A fear that can paralyze mehas no power over You.

So I unload it all before Youand hand it over for You to manage.I put my trust in You — not in my perspective or resources. You can do anything, God!I will not be afraid, because You are my King and Father. You are with me, and You are for me.You accept me as I need You and rely on You,and You walk with me now and always. You will strengthen me for whatever comes.

 ~ C. M.

Lord, my emotions could propel me downward or pull a curtain around me, blocking Your light. But instead, I look to You and pray:Train my mind on Your truth.

Shape my thoughts with Your Spirit.Fill my heart with Your peace.Guide me and give me self-control to do what is wise. I trust that what You say is more real than what I feel.

 ~ C. M.

Make my body healthy and agile,my mind sharp and clear,my heart joyful and contented,my soul faithful and loving. . . .Above all let me live in Your presence, for with You all fear is banished

and there is only harmony and peace.Let every day combine the beauty of spring, the brightness of summer, the abundance of autumn, and the repose of winter. And at the end of my life on earth, grant that I may come to see and know You in the fullness of Your glory.

 ~ St. Thomas Aquinas (1225–1274)

These are strange and difficult times around the world. It’s human and normal for feel fear and anxiety. But, our prayers reach the throne of Heaven! God is listening. Tell Him your thoughts and concerns. He is working on your behalf even before you utter a word!

The devil is cunning. If he doesn’t catch you in other sins, he might get you through pride. You might just slip and fall. So don’t boast.

Sometimes we feel so proud of ourselves as Christians. We might sit in church and think, “Here I am at church, while my children are in Sunday school, learning the Word of God. Right next to me is my spouse of twelve years. We’ve never had any problems in our marriage to speak of. Everything is going well in our lives. We’re very spiritual people.”

We shouldn’t feel arrogant as believers. Paul reminded the Christians in Ephesus, “God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it” (Ephesians 2:8-9 NLT).

Christians are not better than non-Christians. Are we better off? Yes. But are we better? No. I’ve often described myself as one beggar telling another beggar where to find food. We need to be humble, because it wasn’t that long ago that we, too, were separated from God.

Sometimes people who were raised in a Christian environment, or in home where Christian values were honored, develop a resistance to the gospel. There can be boasting in a spiritual pedigree.

The Lord's new covenant of grace is a covenant of the Spirit: "[God] also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant…of the Spirit." Any approach to God other than by the Spirit results in spiritual deadness.

For so long as we permit the ‘forgiveness of sins’ to depend entirely or in part upon the emotional excitements which we enjoy, & upon the good works which we do [instead of upon Christ alone] we continue to live more or less in dread & fear. —Herman Bavinck, Wonderful Works,448

John Bunyan’s advice for killing sin: spend all your strength on the sin you are most inclined to, whatever it may be, because: “If a man has that grace, as to trample upon and mortify his darling sin, he will more easily and more heartily hate and fly the rest.” (Works 2:532)

Carnal men measure all things by a carnal interest; and therefore the life of those that live by faith is ridiculous to them. —Thomas Manton, Works 6:456

It is a cheap zeal to let fly (and yet this is the religion of a great many) at the miscarriages and faults of others. No; you should rather study your own. —Thomas Manton, Works 6:420

Satan is subtle; he will make a man proud of his graces; he will make a man proud that he is not proud. —Thomas Brooks, Works 3:47

We are the work of his hands. Therefore he pitieth us, and is willing to save us; and not only so, but carried us in the womb of his decree from all eternity. —Thomas Manton, Works 6:453

God will show himself mighty and powerful in promoting the word of truth, and will carry on the kingdom of Christ over the backs of his enemies. —Thomas Manton, Works 6:468

The church is like a river. If it gets wider instead of deeper it will lose its power. —Puritan Thomas Manton

PROBLEMS AND PAIN HAD THE POWER AND POTENTIAL TO TAKE YOU OUT, BUT THEY DIDN'T HAVE GOD'S PERMISSION!

TROUBLE ISN'T ALWAYS ABOUT SIN. SOMETIMES IT'S SIMPLY A CONSEQUENCE OF A CALL ON THEIR LIFE: ABRAHAM, ISAAC, JACOB, JOSEPH, JOB, DAVID, DANIEL, RUTH, DEBORAH, HANNAH, MARY, PAUL, EVEN JESUS. DON'T JUDGE WHAT PEOPLE ARE GOING THROUGH. YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT GOD CALLED THEM TO.

NEVER TAKE BACK IN PANIC, WHAT YOU GAVE GOD IN PRAYER.

If we allow sin to settle into our life and refuse to confess it, that sin eventually hardens our heart and builds spiritual calluses in our soul. When we become comfortable with our sin, we are walking in enemy territory and setting ourselves up for spiritual failure and discouragement.

When God called you to ministry did you ever imagine where you would be today? How you would be serving Him. Our calling is not always in the church,

It takes discipline to sit and study God’s Word. You have to spend time in the morning, in the afternoon and in the evening in the Word of God. If you are going to share God’s Word, you better have something God has first given to you before you share it with others. Wait for God to prepare you.

If I only had three years to serve the Lord, I would

Oh to Be More Like Christ

When Adoniram Judson's wife, Ann, told him that a newspaper article likened him to some of the apostles, Judson protested.

The couple was part of a group that had become known as America's first missionaries. They spent 40 years in Burma (Myanmar). A linguist as well as a preacher and church planter, Judson's Burmese Bible translation is still in use.

“I do not want to be like a Paul or any mere man," he said. "I want to be like Christ. I want to follow Him only, copy His teachings, drink in His Spirit, and place my feet in His footprints. Oh, to be more like Christ!”

The new life that allows us to start out with God comes through a spiritual birth provided by the Holy Spirit. "Unless one is born of…the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God." Just as man must be physically born into the human family, so man must be spiritually born into God's family. There is no other option. That is why Jesus said, "You must be born again."

READ, TRUST, OBEY, THE WORD OF GOD!

You can speak to God in Prayer but He wants to speak to you in His word... Be willing to dig a little deeper!

There is nothing you can want, there is nothing you can ask for, there is nothing you can need in time or in eternity, there is nothing living, nothing dying, there is nothing in this world, nothing in the next world, there is nothing now, nothing at the resurrection-morning, nothing in heaven that is not contained in this text--"I will never leave you nor forsake you."

by Alistair Begg

IF YOU ARE FOCUSING ON THE GREENER GRASS ON THE OTHER SIDE THEN YOU NEED TO WATER YOUR GRASS!

G.K. Chesterton said, “True contentment is a real, even active, virtue—not only affirmative, but creative…It is the power of getting out of any situation all there is in it.”

C.S. Lewis was more blunt when he said, “Nobody who gets enough food and clothing in a world where most are hungry and cold has any business to talk about ‘misery.’”

We were never meant to go through life alone. From the very beginning, God designed us for community, and in community, we are better positioned to study, know, and live the teachings of Christ.

If you are going through something today Lean on the Lord and others. There is an old saying, If you are going through hell keep going.

Don't stop and wallow in your missorry. But But Life Hurts, It Is To Hard. Keep Going anyway.

Home is where the heart is, as a believer our hearts need to be rooted and grounded in Jesus Christ,

If your heart is broken, you'll find God right there: if you're kicked in the gut, he'll help you catch your breath.

There’s no such thing as an inactive Christian

There are GATHERERS & SCATTERERS

Heaven is a reality, not seen by eyes of flesh, but made known by revelation and received by faith.

~Archibald Alexander~

Billy Sunday was born in a log cabin during the Civil War. His father was a Union soldier who died when Billy was only a month old. At age 15, Billy worked several jobs before getting recruited to play professional baseball by pitcher and club owner, Albert Spalding, founder of Spalding Sporting Goods. Billy played for the Chicago Stockings from 1883 to 1891 and became one of the most popular athletes in the nation. In 1887, he and his teammates were walking the streets of Chicago after drinking a few beers. Billy heard an old gospel hymn sung at a street corner meeting of the Pacific Garden Mission. He began attending services and began a relationship with the Lord.

In 1889, Billy preached his first sermon as an evangelist. He went on to pioneer radio broadcasting so enthusiastically that the FCC was formed in response. During the next 46 years until his death, over 100 million people heard Billy share the gospel through the airwaves. Presidents Theodore Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson even met with him. But Billy understood his greatest calling was evangelism. He once said, “Going to church doesn’t make you a Christian any more than going to a garage makes you an automobile.”

When you genuinely realize how much God loves you, the greatest gift you can share with others is the gospel of Jesus Christ. So, wherever you go, consider the interests of others first. Seek opportunities to invite others to spend eternity with God.
