QUOTES

There’s a difference between knowing God and knowing about God. When you truly know God, you have the energy to serve Him, the boldness to share Him, and contentment in Him. ~

J. I. Packer~

The old Covenant says, “Keep the law and live.” The new covenant is, “You shall live, and I will lead you to keep my law, for I will write it on your heart.” ~Charles Spurgeon~

The heroism of our own troops… was matched by that of the armed forces of the nations that fought by our side… They absorbed the blows… and they shared to the full in the ultimate destruction of the enemy. ~President Harry S. Truman~ D-Day!

The authority to be an overseer is given by the Holy Spirit and is not based on bloodline, order of birth, financial condition, or work relationship. Some might have difficulty with this concept. The point is, the only authority you need is the Holy Spirit.

We are God’s light in this dark world. I want you to hold on to those words and be encouraged by them. “This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.” I John 1:5

Darkness has settled across many of our cities. Messages are intentionally distorted and blurred in an effort to blind and confuse us. Now more than ever we must continue to be in urgent and earnest prayer for our families and nation.

Ephesians 5:11 cautions us to “take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them.” We are in a spiritual battle for the heart of America and only God can heal us.

We are children of light. Ephesians 5:8 calls us to remain faithful and “on the front lines” praying for good over evil and justice for those sowing darkness to hurt our nation. GOD IS WORKING. WE MUST REMAIN FAITHFUL.

“Our backsliding is great; we have sinned against you" (Jeremiah 14:7).

Backsliding is a coldness of heart, a loss of love. A state where sin takes precedence over your relationship with the Lord, and you lose the joy of your salvation and find yourself like the adulterous wife in Hosea, alone and naked.

When trouble threatens to overwhelm, resign to God’s will and remain calm, even if God delays. He will comfort you. He will cover you with the shadow of His hand. He will give you courage for the times.

When Jesus tells us to “forgive as the Lord forgave us,” He isn’t being insensitive to our pain. He’s graciously showing us how to get free from the long-term effects of being hurt.

An honest assessment of the 12 men that Jesus called to be His disciples shows us that they were far from perfect. In fact, they had many flaws—just like you and me. That is not to say these were not dedicated, gifted men. But Jesus did not call them because they were great; rather their "greatness" was the result of the call of Jesus.

If you do not commit your life to Christ, ultimately you will look back on your life and realize that you wasted it. But don't wait until the end of your life to figure that out. Figure it out now.

It is so important for us to be people in the Word of God. Rulers, nations, and all enemies of God want to break our bonds and tear apart the very fabric that holds us together--Jesus Christ.

The wisdom of man is foolishness, but God's Word never returns void. Keep your words few and let the love of Jesus pour through your life.

The will is the deciding factor in everything we do. In every sphere of life, it settles alternatives.

~Frederick P. Wood~

O N E . . . One tree can start a forest;

One smile can begin a friendship;

One hand can lift a soul;

One word can frame the goal;

One candle can wipe out darkness;

One laugh can conquer gloom;

One hope can raise your spirits;

One touch can show you care;

One life can make a difference,

BE that ONE TODAY.

While Paul was imprisoned, he ministered to those who visited him and he shared the Gospel of Jesus Christ with those who guarded him. Not one minute of his life was spent in self-pity or self-indulgence. He gave his life, fully and completely, to the Lord. Do we share the same zeal Paul had for the Lord? Think about it. Self-pity is a prison without walls—a sign pointing to nowhere.

We cannot hold a torch to another’s path without brightening our own. ~Ben Sweetland~

Anytime we choose an activity over a relationship, we are probably not choosing well. God values our devotion to Him more than service to a cause or accomplishments for the good of society. When Mary and Martha welcomed Jesus into their home, Martha was too busy with her homemaking preparations to delight in His presence…but Mary "chose the good part," and was content to sit at the feet of Jesus for as long as He would tarry.

The distinguishing mark of a Christian is his confidence in the love of Christ, and the yielding of his affections to Christ in return. First, faith sets her seal upon the man by enabling the soul to say with the apostle, "Christ loved me and gave Himself for me." Then love gives the countersign, and stamps upon the heart gratitude and love to Jesus in return. "We love Him because He first loved us."

The Bible is the one book to which any thoughtful man may go with any honest question of life or

destiny and find the answer of God by honest searching. ~John Ruskin~

We wrongly assume that once the will is present, the doing will inevitably follow. Jesus revealed the fallacy of this thinking in a well-known warning to His disciples. "Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak" (Matthew 26:41).
