The Bible has a way of putting more in a single sentence than other writers can put in a whole book. Yet there are some who would tell us that the Bible is no more God's book than other books. Either they have not read the Bible, or they have read it with their eyes closed.

R.A. Torrey

Being a “good Berean”

Means: “Does the sermon match the text?”

Not: “Does the sermon match my opinion?”

Dustin Benge

When Jesus finally came as the Lamb of God, He came not a moment too soon. And when He returns as the Lion, again it will be not a moment too soon—or too late.

Randy Alcorn

God has provided the safety of sound doctrine to rescue us from absolute ruin and destruction.

Prayer, as it comes from the saint, is weak and languid; but when the arrow of a saint's prayer is put into the bow of Christ's intercession it pierces the throne of grace.

~Thomas Watson~

I ask that our people devote themselves to a continuance of prayer. As we rise to each new day, and again when each day is spent, let words of prayer be on our lips.

~Franklin D. Roosevelt~

“There are a lot of broken people in this world,” he once said. “I’d say that all are broken, but only a few admit it. We like to believe we’re okay — that we have it all together; it makes us feel better about ourselves. I’ve learned that it’s okay to be broken. When we get to this point, we can put away all the junk that gets in the way — our efforts to ‘get things right,’ and to ‘do Christian things’… our pride, our stubborn wills, our attempts to control everything and everyone. God is our Healer. He can accomplish in us what we cannot do on our own.”

Quote drawn from an interview conducted by Michael Ross, August 10, 2004.

“Through the western window a solemn light streams from Mt. Calvary. Through the eastern window shines the light of the sun rising, the herald of a brighter day. Thus the school of Grace is well lighted, but we cannot afford to do without the light from either the west or the east.” —Canon Hay Aitken

There’s no such thing as an inactive Christian There are GATHERERS & SCATTERERS

Luke 11:23- Whoever is not with Me is against Me, and whoever does not gather with Me scatters. Jason Powell

Romans 12:1b

To offer your bodies as living sacrifices... The words translated as "to offer" are from the Greek word "paristemi ", which is used often in the New Testament to describe someone who is standing by, standing ready, or at hand. The Greek word for "living" is "Zao" which means to "live, breathe, enjoy real life, to be full of vigor, fresh and strong." In the Old Testament days, this same term was used to describe the type of sacrifice God required. Could you imagine how difficult it would be to offer a lamb or other animal as a sacrifice to God especially one full of life? It would squirm and kick, and left on its own it would scramble off the altar in the blink of an eye.

This is the picture Paul paints for us to offer ourselves as a living sacrifice yet the problem can be how quickly we too crawl off the altar. Can you relate? How many times have you offered to God your career, marriage, children, or finances then yanked it off the altar as soon as some event changed the circumstances? Perhaps we might have run short of patience waiting on God and decided to take matters into our own hands.

Heaven is a reality, not seen by eyes of flesh, but made known by revelation and received by faith.

~Archibald Alexander~

Jesus' commitment to us is lasting, it's forever, it will never ever end! He means it when He says He loves us. He loves us to death! Remember He will never let you down!

A disciple does not ask, "How much can I keep?" but, "How much more can I give?" Whenever we start to get comfortable with our level of giving, it's time to raise it again.

Randy Alcorn

God never waits for or needs a majority to accomplish His work.

The quieter you become, the more you can hear Him. BE STILL.

The crucial choice that believers in Christ face day by day is between living by the flesh or living by the Spirit. The difference is facing life by our resources and perspectives or by God's resources and perspectives.

Bob Hoekstra

“That is the one eternal education: to be sure enough that something is true that you dare to tell it to a child.” —

G.K. Chesterton

Satan paints a target on each of our chests. But we have a choice about whether Satan will hit that target.

Randy Alcorn

Have you ever noticed the difference in the Christian life between work and fruit? A machine can do work; only life can bear fruit.

~Andrew Murray~

Is it not a sad thing that after all Christ’s love to us, we should repay it with lukewarm love to Him?

~C. H. Spurgeon~

“We are all strings in the concert of His joy.”

—Jacob Boehme

Can I see another’s woe, And not be in sorrow too? Can I see another’s grief, And not seek kind relief? Can I see a falling tear, And not feel my sorrow’s share? Can a father see his child Weep, nor be with sorrow filled? Can a mother sit and hear An infant groan, an infant fear? No, no! never can it be! Never, never can it be! And can He, who smiles on all, Hear the wren with sorrows small, Hear the small bird’s grief and care, Hear the woes that infants bear — And not sit beside the nest, Pouring pity in their breast, And not sit the cradle near, Weeping tear on infant’s tear? And not sit, both night and day, Wiping all our tears away? Oh no! never can it be! Never, never can it be! He doth give His joy to all: He becomes an Infant small, He becomes a Man of Woe, He doth feel the sorrow too. Think not thou canst sigh a sigh, and thy Maker is not by: Think not thou canst weep a tear, And thy Maker is not near. Oh, He gives to us His joy, That our grief He may destroy! Till our grief is fled and gone, He doth sit by us and moan.

William Blake’s “On Another’s Woe,” explores the human experience of suffering in light of God’s suffering.

The Spirit-filled life is not a special, deluxe edition of Christianity. It is part and parcel of the total plan of God for His people.

~A.W.Tozer~

Anyone can read the Bible. Many do. But to experience the Word as the holy eyes of God, peering into our hearts, allowing Him to see our true thoughts, intentions, and motivations—that’s another thing altogether. We may find ourselves exposed and naked before Him, defensive, desperate to avoid humiliation, dodging truth rather than admit our poverty of spirit.

Ray Bently

When you’re real and authentic with Him, He won’t beat you up when you mess up because He’s embarrassed by you; He’ll embrace you because He loves you.

PR.

God made me for himself, to serve him here, with love's pure service and in filial fear; to show his praise, for him to labor now; then see his glory where the angels bow.

~Henry William Baker~

If God is found in our hard times, then all of life, no matter how apparently insignificant or difficult, can open us to God’s work among us. To be grateful does not mean repressing our remembered hurts. But as we come to God with our hurts — honestly, not superficially — something life-changing can begin slowly to happen. We discover how God is the One who invites us to heal. We realize that any dance of celebration must weave both the sorrows and the blessings into a joyful step.

Henri Nouwen

Gratitude in its deepest sense means to live life as a gift to be received thankfully. And true gratitude embraces all of life:

Henri Nouwen
