The Scriptures teach us to pray for such spiritual enlightenment. "Open my eyes, that I may see wondrous things from Your law" (Psalm 119:18). In the word of God, we are told of the wonderful things that God has for His people. If we prayerfully seek the Lord concerning His insight into these blessings, the Lord will enlighten us. His willingness to respond is evident in His word. "Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know" (Jeremiah 33:3).

The Lord delights to give heavenly spiritual insight to the humble of heart, not to those who trust in their own wisdom and prudence. "In that hour Jesus rejoiced in the Spirit and said, 'I praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and revealed them to babes'" (Luke 10:21). This picture of spiritual children humbly trusting in the Heavenly Father to reveal His ways fits perfectly God's pattern for living by grace. This pattern is humility and faith.

What God has given us in Christ are His grace resources. It takes grace at work for us to even see what is ours in Him. God gives grace to the humble (James 4:6), and faith accesses grace (Romans 5:2).

by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. 1 Corinthians 15:2

We have to keep the Gospel of Jesus Christ before us at all times, so we do not get fooled by the many false doctrines introduced every day. If we know God’s Word and we hold fast, we will not fall away. The Gospel is neither a discussion nor a debate. It is an announcement.

Because of past hurts, you may have a need to control everything about your life. You may walk in fear of being hurt again if you are not in control. You fear change. You have built walls that keep you from intimacy - with God and with others.

If you want to let go of these fears . . . to overcome the past and move into a brighter future . . . the first step is to start trusting Jesus and open up to him. Tell him how you feel and ask for his help. He already knows everything about you, so there are no surprises. He loves you despite your flaws and failings. He loves you so much, he went to the cross for you. You can trust him totally. Whatever happens around you, he will always be there for you.

Habits are . . . » Comfortable—Like old shoes, one puts them on easily. » Automatic—One rarely has to decide to do something habitually—you just drift into it. » Unconscious—So you don’t have to think about what you are doing; you just do it. » Skillful—habits (take lying, for instance) are performed with alacrity. » Entrenched—It takes careful, continual, prayerful effort to replace them with their biblical alternatives. Keeping these five characteristics of habit in mind can help you to deal with sinful ways of living. They can also show you how the new life can be assisted by learning biblical patterns that become habitual.

STOP ALWAYS EXPECTING YOUR BLESSINGS TO BE FINANCIAL OR MATERIALISTIC! GOD JUST MAY HAVE GRACIOUSLY ADDED SOME MORE TIME TO YOUR LIFE INSTEAD!
