“Whether you stay six weeks, six months, or six years, always leave it better than you found it.” *** “Where you start in the marketplace is not where you have to stay.” *** “Don't just let your business or your job make something for you; let it make something of you.”
Teams don't win by accident; they cannot simply rely on their talent to take them to the top. Winning teams display strong, durable commitment—both to a common cause and to one another. This commitment inspires them to persevere through setbacks and to make the sacrifices necessary to succeed.
Since the Lord saved me, I have despaired of no man living.
~Henry T. Mahan~
Advertising bombards us with the message that life is all about me, it is all about now. Such messages may sell products and services, but they will cause us to sell our souls if we follow this philosophy. I believe the spiritual side of our lives really does matter. To believe otherwise is to define persons as little more than animated protoplasm hopelessly going about our routines. If we do possess a soul capable of living beyond our lifetimes, then the seeds we plant in this life will yield fruit forever. If you take care of your character, God will take care of your reputation.
One of the most unloving things you can do is to stay silent about Jesus.
In our daily struggles and challenges, let us find strength in the assurance that Jesus has overcome death and is offering us the gift of eternal life. As we continue to trust and believe in Him, we can be confident that our lives have a greater purpose and that our future is secure in His loving embrace.
The Lord of all power and might speak, and it is done; he commandeth, and it standeth fast. - John Newton
Wicked men rejoice in many things that are fruits of God's goodness to them, but they don't praise him because the foundation of this joy is not anything that they see in God but only the good they receive themselves. Jonathan Edwards
"The Lord loves to use tools which are not rusted with self-conceit." — Charles Spurgeon
"Objection: But I have often relapsed and fallen into the same sin again and again. Answer: If Christ will have us pardon our brother seventy times seven, can we think He will press us more than He will be ready to do Himself?" -Richard Sibbes.
"Infinite power shall stoop that you may lean upon its shoulder." — Charles Spurgeon
"Fathers have a God-given responsibility to see to it that their daughters marry well and that their sons become worthy husbands." -Voddie Baucham.
“If the gospel is old news to you, it will be dull news to everyone else.” ― Kevin DeYoung
"Bold-hearted men are always called mean-spirited by cowards." — Charles Spurgeon
When we have faith, we can face any challenge with courage and hope, knowing that God is with us always. We can trust in His unfailing love and rely on His guidance and support in all that we do.
The principle Jesus teaches is not that we aren't to judge, just not to judge by our own standards. We are to use God's standard as set forth in Scripture. It goes like this:
1. If I judge myself based on God's standards, I become aware of the "plank" in my own eye.
2. As I come to understand the nature of my own sin, the more I realize the depth of God's grace, mercy, and love -- and the help He provides. Jesus does not say we should not be concerned about a speck in our brother's eye. He simply tells us that we will not be effective in helping anyone if we have a telephone pole sticking out of our own eye.
3. The more I am aware of my own "planks" and God's solutions, the more I can help reveal the truth of God's Word to my brothers (or sisters).
The key, of course, is the application of God's Word to our own lives before we judge anything. In other words, don't just be a hearer of the Word -- be a doer.
The resurrection of Jesus Christ brings spiritual victory over sin and death to all who believe in Him. As we allow the Lord to be our guide through each day, When this process is unfolding, the effective Christian life is developing, by the grace of God at work in us.
