A man who says “I’m not going to die on that hill” but never fights on any hill is not a man you can trust to fight for anything that really matters.


We often presume what God won't do, and thus we never ask him.


One of the greatest enemies of true Christianity is “spirituality.” People believe themselves to be good with God because they say "I’m a spiritual person." Everyone is a spiritual person. The question is: Of which spirit are you—Christ or Satan?

Those who make their little laws around God's laws may seem really conservative but are in fact liberal, going beyond Scripture, binding consciences, and making their traditions as if they were the Word of God.


I think there are many professing Christians who secretly hate that Jesus said this: “By this, all people will know that you are my disciples if you have love for one another."


May our passion for Christ always be greater than our passion for an easy and comfortable life.


The office of ‘the apostle’ ended with the death of John on the Isle of Patmos. Since the office of the apostle has ceased, the “signs of the apostles” have ceased. There are no apostolic gifts. There is no new apostolic revelation. The Bible is closed. Don’t be deceived by hucksters


You can't love Jesus and divorce yourself from his bride. If you truly love Jesus, you'll love his church and love to worship with the church.


The world wants us Christians to affirm every religious belief except our own.

Theology is not simply the pursuit of knowledge about God, it's the pursuit of God himself. The more we know about God the more we know God and the more we’re able to love and glorify God as God. Not the god of our own imaginations, but the only true God—the God who is.


One of the greatest problems in our society is that we have raised a generation of guys, not a generation of men.


The church isn’t full of hypocrites. Christians aren't hypocrites, we’re repentant sinners. And when we act hypocritically, we repent of that as well. Jesus rebuked hypocrites and said they were headed for hell. Christians know we’re sinners, and hypocrites pretend they're not.


Pharisees were really good at judging others' hearts and really poor at judging their own.


For some, worship is something just to get done with and get out of the way so that they can get on with the rest of the day and get on with their lives. For Christians, worship is life.


Pastors, the difference between making disciples of Christ and making disciples who only follow us is the difference between a church and a cult.


We too often worry about tomorrow because our focus is on tomorrow and not on our God who is sovereign over tomorrow.


The ironic thing about legalism is that it doesn't make us want to work harder, it makes us want to give up.


One of the greatest sins for which we need to ask forgiveness is our lack of believing that God has forgiven us.
