QUOTES

"The preacher is not a chef; he’s a waiter. God doesn’t want you to make the meal; He just wants you to deliver it to the table without messing it up. That’s all." -

John MacArthur

The promises of God are not, as people imagine, things that are over & past, as soon as the word is out of his mouth; but they are continued, constant current streams that will carry on his people that are in them still, til they are fully accomplished.

—Robert Traill, Works 2:31

Let us never forget that our feelings about Sundays are sure tests of the state of our souls. The person who can find no pleasure in giving God one day in the week is completely unfit for heaven. Heaven itself is nothing but an eternal Sabbath. -

God will remove His faithful before judgment. “But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.” Luke 17:29-30

Over 400 times, the Bible affirms, “thus says the Lord.” We cannot improve upon what God has said.

Jesus didn't come here the first time "to make the world a better place." When He returns (the 2nd coming, which is AFTER the Rapture), then He will make this world new. Every knee shall bow & every tongue will confess that He is Lord.

Elitism has no place in God’s kingdom. Adam was a gardener, Ruth was a field laborer, Nehemiah was a cupbearer, David was a shepherd, Joseph was a carpenter, Mary was a mother, Peter was a fisherman, and Paul was a tentmaker. God uses ordinary people to advance His kingdom!

Be thankful for church buildings that are a little too loud because they’re filled with the noise of young people. Because the silence in a church building from a lack of young people is deafening.

“It is hard starving this sin of pride—it can live on almost anything.” —

William Gurnall

"Beloved friends, before there can be a springing up in the soul of any, there must be plowing, harrowing, and sowing." - Charles Spurgeon

All places are places of worship to a Christian. Wherever he is, he ought to be in a worshiping frame of mind.

I have held many things in my hands, and I have lost them all; but whatever I have placed in God’s hands, I still possess. Martin Luther

It is therefore an unworthy thing to complain about the loss of God’s favor and assurance if all your duties and performances are careless and withered. —

Anthony Burgess, Faith Seeking Assurance, Pg. 95

We became Christians by faith in Jesus, we stay Christians by faith in Jesus, and we grow as Christians by faith in Jesus.-

It is forgiveness that sets a man to work for God. He does not work in order 2 be forgiven but because he has been forgiven -Horatius Bonar

“[Jesus] is a meek king; he will admit mourners into his presence. As he has beams of majesty, so he has a heart of mercy and compassion.” — Richard Sibbes

Observe now the preface of the 10 commandments. It is not, Thou shalt do so and so, and then I will be thy God; the Lord does not first reveal himself to them as a commanding God, and promise that, upon their obedience, he will become a promising God. —

Robert Traill, Works 2:48

“It is not your business to succeed, but to do right; when you have done so, the rest lies with God.” - C.S. Lewis

"Perhaps the minister may for years appear to preach in vain in a certain case, and yet not in vain, for all the while the soil is being prepared by the gospel plow that afterward, it may receive the quickened seed." - Charles Spurgeon

The chief weapon we ought to use in resisting Satan is the Bible. Three times the great enemy offered temptations to our Lord. Three times his offer was refused, with a text of Scripture as the reason, ‘it is written.” ~
