QUOTES

Updated: Jan 7, 2023

When we consider topics like endurance or perseverance or steadfastness, it’s easy to think of them in the abstract or to project them into the future. When I face opposition in the future, I’ll make sure to endure rather than falter. Or, When I’m old and at the end of my life, I’ll be sure to remember the importance of finishing strong.

The world behind you, the cross before you, no turning back.

Are you determined to run your race with endurance? Even in, and maybe especially in, these challenging days that aren’t going to get any easier and Jesus said would only get uglier, keep going, keep persevering, and keep your eyes fixed on Him!

We will find the true happiness that we seek in a relationship with God. A happy life is a life with God. So don’t settle for some cheap imitation this world offers. Pursue the real thing.

“To live in prayer together is to walk in love together.”

Margaret Moore Jacobs

"Love the Lord your God." The primary demand of the law is an all-out love relationship with the Lord God Almighty. God is to be loved "with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind." From the depths of our being, love is to be flowing out toward the Lord. In every expression of our personality, love is to be poured out toward God. In every thought of our minds, love for God is to be the motivation and the content. Any aspect of life that does not indicate a comprehensive, unrestricted love toward God is in violation of His law.

If the gospel cannot settle the question of whether you will go to heaven, or to hell, you can forget about inward peace (i.e obtaining personal assurance). —William Gurnall (1616-1679) The Christian in Complete Armour, 2:314

If you are living without prayer, you are living without Christ.

- Charles Spurgeon

"Faith comes not of our free will, but is the gift of God."

-William Tyndale.

"The eyes of God, my God, are always upon his chosen, as eyes of affection, delight, complacency, unwearied power, immutable wisdom, and unchanging love."

- Charles Spurgeon

"Confidence in God is a most effective security against sin."

— Charles Spurgeon

As the sun shines continually, so God's goodness is continual. His mercy endureth forever.

Jonathan Edwards

Freedom begins in a community of “me too” people, people committed to helping you carry your burden.

When you’re not doing-just-fine-thank-you, when your walls are high and your heart is hidden, remember there’s a flock of others, as well as our own King Jesus, who can say “me too.” The Me Too movement that has swept across the globe holds power because it’s a linking of arms with others who understand pain. We are better when we tear down walls, tell our story, and put a semicolon at the end of it. Not a period.

Jesus is the Rock; the Rock of my salvation; the Rock of my fortress, Jesus makes me strong. He makes me the person I want to be, as I live my life in Him, not in me.

Just as faith in God and repentance from sin are necessary for salvation, so they are necessary for the continuance of the Christian’s life. The scriptural condition for salvation is, believing. “He who believes in the Son has everlasting life, and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him” (John 3:36). Also, “He who believes in Him is not condemned, but he who does not believe is condemned already because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God” (John 3:18).

Justification is God’s provision of salvation for guilty and lost sinners. Because of Christ’s redeeming work, His death on the cross, we no longer stand before God as sinners, unrighteous or guilty, but as holy, righteous, and not guilty. We are declared righteous because of our faith in Christ (Romans 4:5). We become righteous the moment we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. At that moment, we are considered born again and our old self dies and a new spiritual man arises.

The term sanctification means “to be made holy” and “to be set apart.” Sanctification speaks of both a position and a process in the Christian life. The moment we are born again, we are sanctified, made holy, and also set apart for God’s purpose. Every Christian needs to understand that they have been sanctified and set apart for a special purpose for the glory of God.

In Webster, regeneration is defined as: “The act of being spiritually reborn; complete reformation; bringing into existence again; the act of being made anew or formed again.”

In the New Testament, the new birth is described as a cleansing: “. . . according to his mercy, He saved us, through the washing of regeneration . . .” (Titus 3:5).

It is also described as being “born again” (John 3:3, 5-6).

The Bible is an incredible book of history and facts that proves that there is a God that created all things. Most important of all, the Bible is the Word of God. It contains the mind of God and His will for each one of our lives. That is why the Bible was given to us. Paul the Apostle says in 2 Timothy 3:16-17, "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work."

The word of God is infallible. There is no error in God's Word. The law of the Lord is perfect concerning our souls. The testimony of the Lord is not only infallible it is inerrant. Proverbs 30:5-6, "Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him. Do not add to His words, Lest He rebukes you, and you be found a liar." The purity of His words does not need anything added to it. God warns us not to misrepresent His scripture.

the Word of God is complete. The Bible does not need any new chapters or verses. It is all given to us already. Many cults add their own books or commentaries to the Bible. All you need is God's Word because it is the holy Word of God. It is complete. In Revelation 22:18-19, God gives us a warning, "For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book."

The word of God is totally authoritative. Psalm 119:89 says "Forever, O LORD, Your word is settled in heaven." The Word of God is the only source of absolute divine authority. This divine authority is for you and me as servants of Jesus Christ. When some say, "I have a word from the Lord for you," write it down, and as you study God's word see if the Lord speaks to you through His Scriptures. Only then will you know if the Lord is truly speaking to you.

God's Word is totally sufficient for all of our needs. We don't need anything else. In 2 Timothy 3:16-17, it reads "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work." We Christians can be totally secure in the Lord by studying the Bible because it is God's plan for our life.

The Word of God will accomplish what it promises. If God told you something will happen, and you wait, it will happen. In Isaiah 55:11 it says, "So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it." God sent His word to accomplish His perfect will in our lives. If God makes a promise to you He will fulfill it in His own time. There are so many promises given to us in the Bible. These promises reassure us and bring comfort to our lives in our times of trial. I challenge you to take time to study the Word of God. The Lord will show you wonderful things that will change your life.
