QUOTES

God is rich in grace. When He forgave our sins, He did so "according to the riches of His grace." Think of the bountiful measure of grace that was bestowed on us to remove our guilt and shame. God generously poured out His grace and washed away our iniquities. Yet, in doing this He did not deplete the treasures of His grace. In Ephesians 2:7, God speaks of the "exceeding riches of His grace." The Lord's grace is far beyond any richness that we have ever yet comprehended or experienced.

What are all inferior blessings, compared to this unspeakable gift of the Son of his love? -

Jesus is the One for whom I’m running this race. I am not running for the applause of people or some earthly reward. I am running it for Him because He did so much for me.

The most important aim in running this race is to hear Jesus say on that final day, “Well done, good and faithful servant” (Matthew 25:21, 23).

We may not be able to see Jesus with our eyes (yet) but He is the most real thing in all the universe.

The assurance of our salvation is never to be based on a “decision,” but on the finished work of Christ on the cross.

The presence of God can be a bit scary, can’t it? It reminds me of the story of Aslan in the Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis. Aslan the lion is an allegorical figure representing Christ. One of the main characters, Lucy, asks Mrs. Beaver about Aslan: “Then he isn’t safe?”

“Safe?” said Mrs. Beaver. “Who said anything about safe? ‘Course he isn’t safe. But he’s good. He’s the King, I tell you.” No, God is not always “safe.” He doesn’t allow us to remain as we are. He challenges us to grow and stretch and deal with problems head-on.

Jesus is God’s love manifested in human form. He is the Father’s way of saying, “I love you, I want to bless you, draw you closer to Me, and give you a life of joy, peace, and love.”

Before we came to faith in Jesus Christ, we were under the dominion of sin. We were condemned before God because of our sins. Others may not have been aware of our truly sinful condition. Still, we were so controlled by sin that God called us "slaves of sin" (Romans 6:6).

The law brought us no hope of escape. In fact, the law condemned us. On the other hand, the grace of God is our effective hope. There is forgiveness of sins by His grace: "The forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace" (Ephesians 1:7).

"The big heart of Deity is set upon us poor, insignificant, undeserving, worthless beings."

- Charles Spurgeon

"One book read slowly, meditated upon & assimilated, is worth twenty skimmed through hurriedly." -Arthur Pink.

The reason one does not rejoice in the incarnation is for lack of holy meditation upon the subject, its miraculous nature, the promises, the Person, fruits, & this great salvation brought about by his suffering & death. —Wilhelmus à Brakel, Christian’s Reasonable Service, 1:515

No amount of activity in the King's service will make up for the neglect of the King Himself. -

Robert Murray M'Cheyne.

God accepts even a little sincere love.

Jonathan Edwards

"Bring me a worm that can comprehend a man, and then I will show you a man that can comprehend the Triune God." -John Wesley

"The eyes of the Lord thy God are always upon thee, O believer, from the beginning of the year even to the end of the year." - Charles Spurgeon

“I fear John Knox's prayers more than all the assembled armies of Europe.”

Mary, Queen of Scots

It is the whole business of the whole church to preach the whole gospel to the whole world.

Charles Spurgeon
