QUOTES

The Lord, and all things to do with Him, must be at the heart of all preaching. Today, as much as the first-century church at Corinth, we still need an emphasis on the fundamentals.

When we trust in the Lord, the glorious works of God are manifested in and through our lives "with power." The power involved in this process is His power. This is the process that is vividly portrayed in the lives we have looked at in Hebrews. They trusted in God: "By faith. The God upon whom they relied worked mightily in them, by means of His great grace: Our God wants to fulfill the work of faith with power in our lives-" according to the grace of our God." This is what brings glory to the Lord on earth while reminding us that we will enter into His glory someday in heaven: someday.

"Our worship is poor because our knowledge of God is poor, and our knowledge of God is poor because our preaching is poor." -John Stott.

Superficial religion will always be fashionable because it does not require self-denial.

Spurgeon

"We will fall back upon the omnipotence and all-sufficiency of Jehovah, and then we shall know what it is not to feel any distrust or fear concerning the present or the future of the Church of the living God." - Charles Spurgeon

True Christian benevolence is always occupied with producing happiness to the utmost of its power, and according to the extent of its sphere, be it larger or more limited. - William Wilberforce

~A.T. Pierson~

We are not held by tradition to pray, instead, we have a personal love relationship with Jesus Christ. Still, there needs to be an urgency and constancy to our prayer time.

You were created to participate in God’s divine activity. ~

Let’s keep our eyes open to the divine work we can participate in today! Maybe it’ll be the gift of giving cash to someone in need for Christmas (which is right around the corner!), the gift of helping, or the gift of loving someone who feels unseen or unheard. Remember, you are embraced by Jesus!Lysa TerKeurst

It costs something to be a real Christian, according to the standard of the Bible. There are enemies to be overcome, battles to be fought, sacrifices to be made, an Egypt to be forsaken, a wilderness to be passed through, a cross to be carried, and a race to be run. ~

JC Ryle

"I believe it was a good thing for Saul to be there, and I have sometimes thought, when I have heard a man swear in the street, “That is an awful thing; but if he had not done it, I should probably not have prayed for him.” - Charles Spurgeon

Reader, be very sure that riches and worldly greatness are no certain marks of God’s favor. They are often, on the contrary — a snare and hindrance to a man’s soul. They make him love the world and forget God. -

JC Ryle

In this life, we will suffer, just like Christ. He was tempted and tried, just like you and me. But many times, we don’t find our deepest calling or purpose without suffering along the way. Jesus is our model for both passion and compassion despite life's circumstances!

Tim Tebow
