"We should not allow the mercies of the Lord to lie forgotten in unthankfulness." —
Charles Spurgeon
“He [Christ] has given us such sweet fellowship with himself that only in heaven itself can we ever be happier[…]” - Charles Spurgeon
When I look at myself, I don't see how I can be saved. But when I look at Christ, I don't see how I can be lost. Martin Luther
There is power, freedom, and health in honest forgiveness that comes from the heart of God.

What the heart likes best, the mind studies most.
Richard Sibbes
“The members of Christ’s body must be safe forever, for they are one with him. Shall Christ be mutilated? Shall he be cut in pieces, and his beauty marred? That is impossible.“Once in Christ, in Christ forever; Nothing from his love can sever.” -

“There are always plenty of good reasons to be afraid-unless you know that things are under control.” ~Elisabeth Elliot
“If a person doesn’t love the church, they don’t love Jesus.” —
Voddie Baucham
Grace and truth together reverse the effects of the fall, which were separated from God and others. Grace and truth together invite us out of isolation and into the relationship. Grace, when it is combined with reality, invites the true self, the “me” as I really am, warts and all, into the relationship.
It is one thing to have safety in a relationship; it is quite another to be indeed known and accepted in this relationship.
Grace has the power to bring us together with God and with others if others will accept it.
It is only in a combination of grace and truth that the real Jesus is present.
The Word of God must be read and heard with diligence so you may arrive at the knowledge that is needful for you.
~Cotton Mather~
As we read the Bible individually, we can have different life applications. We see the Scriptures through different eyes, but doctrinally, the Word of God never changes; it remains the same. There is nothing new under the sun.
For so many of us who have a heart for the Lord, walking scornfully before the Lord is not a likely attitude. However, somewhat related attitudes may become a part of our walk (even inadvertently). Pride and haughtiness are two of the most common, and most deadly.
These then are the marks of the ideal Church––love, suffering, holiness, sound doctrine, genuineness, evangelism, and humility. They are what Christ desires to find in His churches as He walks among them.
~John Stott~
When Bible teachers give expository teaching, whether they expound using exegetical teaching––verse by verse––or they give a topical study, doctrine must always remain the same. It has been said that for any given Scripture passage, there is “one interpretation, many applications.” It is a true precept of hermeneutics (Bible interpretation). There can be no false doctrine arising from an experience. The Word of God has to back it up.
As Augustine prayed:
What then are you my God? What, I ask, except the Lord God. For who is the Lord besides God? Or who is God besides our God? — Most high, most good, most powerful, most omnipotent, most merciful and most just, most secret and most present; most beautiful and most strong; most stable and incomprehensible; unchangeable (yet) changing all things; never new, never old; making all things new, and bringing the proud to (the collapse of) old age; ever acting, ever at rest; gathering, and not needing; carrying and filling and protecting (all things); creating and nourishing and perfecting; seeking, though you lack nothing.
Fr. William Most, “Excerpts from St. Augustine,”
“Suddenly I saw in the world something that was unshatterable — something that had endured through millennia, something that was indestructible — the spirit and life and power of Jesus Christ within His Church.”
Benjamin P. Browne
“Forgiveness is the giving, and so the receiving of life.”—George MacDonald
"My motto is, 'No Bible, No Breakfast.'" -Leland Wang.
“Recollect also that you cannot see Christ till the Spirit of God opens your eyes. You are blind; spiritually, you are dead, and only the Spirit of God can make you live, and give you sight.” - Charles Spurgeon
No man, depend on it, can persist from the beginning of his life to the end of it in a course of self-denial, in a course of generosity, in a course of virtue . . . unless he is drawing from the fountain of our Lord Himself. - Lord Shaftesbury died on 1 October 1885
What Christ has done for his people and the love which he has shown them is very wonderful.
"Nothing perhaps affects man's character more than the company he keeps." -
J.C.Ryle.
