"When I do not understand a passage of the Word of God, I lift up my heart to the Lord, that He would be pleased, by His Holy Spirit, to instruct me, and I expect to be taught, though I do not fix the time when, and the manner how, it should be." -

George Muller.

“If you are, at this moment, holding on to any other confidence, I pray you to let go of it, and drop into the arms of Jesus, and know—for God has said it, — that the instant you believe in Jesus, you are saved[…]” - Charles Spurgeon

There is nothing so hateful to men as sin is to Christ. It is as contrary as possible to the divine nature, to the nature of the Son of God. Yet as Christ pleased to set his love upon them and to die for them.

Haste, haste away to him, poor beguiled sinners. You lack wisdom; ask it of Christ. -

George Whitefield

I am the messenger. I tell you the Master's message; if you do not like the message quarrel with the Bible, not with me.

Charles H. Spurgeon

We must return to New Testament Christianity, not in creed only but in the complete manner of life as well. Separation, obedience, humility, simplicity, gravity, self-control, modesty, cross-bearing: these all must again be made a living part of the total Christian concept and be carried out in everyday conduct.

~A.W. Tozer~

"Give those things to the poor which you cannot keep that you may receive those things which you cannot lose." -Augustine.

It is not a sin for a preacher to be without a degree, but it is a sin for a preacher to be uneducated.

Charles H. Spurgeon

'The wisdom of God is seen in this, that the sins of men shall carry on God’s work; yet that He should have no hand in their sin. The Lord permits sin but doth not approve it. He hath a hand in the action in which sin is, but not in the sin of the action.' —

Thomas Watson

If you once love Him, you will study to please Him. —

John Newton

The table Jesus has prepared for you is one of peace, clarity, and abundance. You don’t have to give the Enemy a seat at your table.

Louie Giglio

“Like Lazarus lying in the tomb, the unredeemed soul remains lifeless until the voice of God commands it, ‘Come forth!’” —

John MacArthur

When we call Jesus "Lord", it is to willingly be His subject, His disciple, and His follower. However, the gift of Jesus is not just His sacrificial love or the teaching of His words and life -- it is also His empowerment to "go and in the same way..."

Hemingway once defined "courage" as "grace under pressure." I think it's also true that "grace" enables "courage under pressure." For followers of Jesus, that is the power to be courageous for good in spite of all the pressure to do the opposite.

"Farewell sin!" -Thomas Vincent, on his deathbed.

“Trust Jesus, I implore you. He is worthy of your trust, for he is the Son of God, and he has died to put away the guilt of all who trust him.” -

Charles Spurgeon

Christ is not loved at all till He is loved above all. —

Ralph Robinson (1614-1655), Christ All and in All, Pg. 6

O may I endeavor in God's Strength to quicken those things that are ready to die & labor after universal Holiness, Amen? -

William Wilberforce

“To be a Christian means to forgive the inexcusable, because God has forgiven the inexcusable in you.”—C.S. Lewis

Daily living by faith in Christ is what makes the difference between a sickly and a healthy Christian, between the defeated and victorious saint.

~A. W. Pink~

When it comes to the subject of studying Bible prophecy, sometimes we miss the point. We can become obsessed with things that we think are fulfillments of Bible prophecy but actually are not. We forget that Bible prophecy is not given to inflate our brains but to enlarge our hearts.

The wounds we carry with us are not obstacles to simply get over. Rather, our wounds are the way through. Our wounds aren’t something to hide or deny; instead, they are sacred parts of who we are and the testaments of our journeys.

Loss is a gift wrapped in thorns. Loss changes and transforms us… into Christ’s likeness if we let it. It can forge compassion in our hearts and soften the hard places of pride and self-sufficiency. Loss reveals that we are not alone on this journey, but that Jesus is right here with us!
