QUOTES

Are you playing regularly? Do you know how important it is to play? God created us not just for hard work (which is good), but also for enjoyment (which is also good)! He wants you to be able to say, “This is the day that the Lord has made; I will rejoice and be glad in it” — Psalm 118:24.

...waiting on God requires the willingness to bear uncertainty, to carry within oneself the unanswered question, lifting the heart to God about it whenever it intrudes upon one’s thoughts...

~Elisabeth Elliot~

Once we have heard the voice of God, we need to follow. Jesus said, “The sheep follow him, for they know his voice” (John 10:4). The word follow means to deliberately decide to comply with the instruction. It is a deliberate choice for sheep to follow the shepherd.

Don’t forget we have an enemy! Rather than being afraid of him, we can put him in his proper place… subject to Christ Jesus. When we are submitted to Jesus when He is our all in all when we pray in His name, the devil will battle us, yes, but he has to shrink away.

"It is never right to distrust God, and never vain to trust him." —

Charles Spurgeon

My greatest concern is for your soul's good. Though you are at so great a distance from us, God is everywhere. You are much out of the reach of our care, but you are every moment in his hands. [To his daughter, Mary.]

Is not the public interest of Christ and his cause infinitely more important than any interest of your own, and should you not prefer his glory and the welfare of his kingdom before everything else? John Flavel

Jesus Christ is the center of Scripture, and the moment we lose that center, we misunderstand the Bible.

Whatever we rejoice in, in this world, it must always be with trembling, lest we grow vain in our joy and be puffed up with the things we rejoice in. #Psalms2

Matthew Henry

Never expect assurance by looking at your faith; look to Christ.

Jesus Christ is the believers:

Life (Col 3:4) Advocate (1 Jn 2:1)

Sacrifice (Heb 9:26)

Mediator (1 Tim 2:5)

Propitiation (1 Jn 2:2)

Redemption (Eph 1:7)

Justification (Rom 4:25)

Reconciliation (2 Cor 5:18-19)

He alone is worthy of our worship.

"You who choose may invent a salvation that is partly by man and partly by God, and you may cry this up much as you please; as for me, I have no desire for any salvation but that which is all of God, neither is there any other." -

Charles Spurgeon

"Oh, prayer, prayer! It brings and keeps God and man together. It raises up a man to God and brings down God to man." -

George Whitefield.

We must meet the uncertainties of this world with the certainty of the world to come.

A.W. Tozer

If the use of the affections in religion, in *general*, be at length shown to be conformable to reason, it will not require many words to prove that our blessed Savior is the proper object of them. - William Wilberforce, London

Child of God, you cost Christ too much for him to forget you.

"What is the chief end of preaching? It is to give men and women a sense of God and His presence." -

Martyn Lloyd-Jones.

He only is safe for eternity who is sheltered behind the finished work of Christ.

D.L. Moody

‘I go to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will, no doubt, through the mediation of his blessed Son, receive me, though a sinner; where I hope we ere long shall meet, to sing the new song, and remain everlastingly happy, world without end.’

John Bunyan died 31 Aug 1688

“God never did anything TO me that wasn’t FOR me.” ~

Elisabeth Elliot

"We never see sin aright until we see it as against God."

-William S. Plumer.
