"Unction is God’s knighthood for the soldier-preacher who has wrestled in prayer and gained the victory. Victory is not won in the pulpit by firing intellectual bullets or wisecracks, but in the prayer closet." - Leonard Ravenhill

“[Reality] is not neat, not obvious, not what you expect.” - C.S. Lewis

“It is safe to tell the pure in heart that they shall see God, for only the pure in heart want to.” - C.S. Lewis

"The Lord's redemption is the theme of ceaseless praise, for it is a redemption which brings in its train hope, holiness, and heaven, deliverance from sin, likeness to Christ, and eternal glory with Christ." - Charles Spurgeon

God did not reveal himself so that from his revelation we might construct a philosophical concept of God, but so that we might receive, acknowledge, and confess him, the one true, living God, as our God.

Herman Bavinck

Immanuel, God with us, finds a home among his people, who then shall work us ill? -

“Take heart, dear Christian, our God does not require ideal circumstances to build His Kingdom!” —Michael Staton

It is as natural for one that is born again to pray, as for the newborn babe to cry. —

Throughout the Old Testament, we can find examples of people living by the grace of God. They may not have been able to describe their experience in terms of grace. Yet, their reliance upon God to work on their behalf was just as valid as ours. Living by grace is about God at work in people's lives. Even though they may have been born under the law, they could not live by means of the law. The law supplied no resources for life. Without God at work, the only resource is from the flesh, from natural human sufficiency. This has always been inadequate for living as God intended.

"It is from the pulpit that God speaks to His people through the preaching of His Word." -

Nate Pickowicz.

After believers have had the pleasure of beholding the face of God for millions of ages, it will not grow dull; the relish of this delight will be as exquisite as ever.

Jonathan Edwards

The power lies in the grace of God and not in our faith. -

Charles Spurgeon

Let us seek friends that will stir us up about our prayers, our Bible reading, our use of time, our souls, and our salvation. -

JC Ryle

"I am never ashamed to avow myself a Calvinist. I do not hesitate to take the name of Baptist. But if I am asked what is my creed, I reply, 'It is Jesus Christ.'" — Charles Spurgeon

The Bible is a written letter from God. A lot of us carry it. We have it in different colors and sizes. We have it in different translations. Some of us even have it on our smartphones or tablets. But we never read it. Yet it’s a letter from God to us. If you want God to speak to you, then open up His Word.

To every soul, God will look like its first love because He IS its first love. Your place in heaven will seem to be made for you and you alone because you were made for it––made for it stitch by stitch as a glove is made for a hand.

~C.S. Lewis~

We can read our Bible, pray, fast, love our neighbor, care for the poor, and heap up good works, but without the blood of Christ, we are under the divine wrath of God.

"No great work can be done without much opposition. Never look for peace while you proclaim war." -William Bramwell.

“What attitude are we going to choose when we suffer?” ~ Elisabeth Elliot
