Heart Like Jesus

Truly I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me. – Matthew 25:40

Do a heart check today. Do you have a heart for Jesus? How about a heart like His? In his book, A Heart Like Jesus, author Max Lucado asks, “What if, for one day and night, your heart was replaced by the heart of Christ? Your heart gets the day off and your life is led by the heart of Christ. His priorities govern your actions. His passions drive your decisions. His love directs your behavior.”

This is what He intends by giving the Holy Spirit – a heart “transplant” of sorts. The Spirit of God equips you, gives you grace and a message, puts a song in your heart, and you are instructed not to keep it to yourself. God wants you to be more like Jesus. As Max Lucado also said, “God loves you just the way you are, but he refuses to leave you that way.” Sometimes just a little nudge, a quiet transformation is all that you need; but maybe you need a little prodding to see through the eyes of the Savior.

Look around you. You do not have to look far to see “the least, the last, and the lost.” Some may be called to minister to the homeless while others may be able to bring a meal to a family with a new baby to reveal a bit of Jesus’ heart. Perhaps you can order a pretty scarf for a cancer patient who has suffered hair loss from chemotherapy. Or maybe a veteran needs a little help mowing his lawn. Whatever you do, do it as unto the Lord (Colossians 3:23-24).
