Your faith in action brings about changes

In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will. – Ephesians 1:11

“A very rich person should leave his kids enough to do anything but not enough to do nothing.” The quote, often attributed to Warren Buffet, highlights a good father’s desire for his children to embrace their own purpose and learn the value of work.

Twenty-four hours before Jesus suffered crucifixion at the hands of angry and hateful people, He spoke plainly to His disciples explaining that He would be leaving them soon. In the face of their sadness, He assured them He was not leaving them in spiritual poverty, without resources. They were to receive an amazing inheritance from the Father, an acquaintance with the Holy Spirit. Just as Mr. Buffett designed his financial gifts to encourage his children to work, God’s gift of the Holy Spirit will move you towards good works and rewarding life.

Your faith in action brings about changes you cannot fathom. Prayers, acts of service, kindness, and generosity are touchpoints designed by God to bless others and bring Him gladness. However, it does not mean your work will be easy! Jesus was clear: “In the world, you will have tribulation. But take heart: I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). Be confident; the Holy Spirit will assist you when your work is difficult!

Today, be about your Father’s business. Pray for those that have not heard the gospel of Christ, bless those you have the ability to bless, and faithfully intercede for others.
