For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.

Romans 8:2
Laws can be defined as rules of conduct recognized as binding by a society. In part, the standards set by a group are meant to avoid chaos; they result in self-preservation and order, and peace. Usually, disobedience of the rules results in some disciplinary action by those who have been given authority.
According to commentator D. Stuart Briscoe, the law given by God, the highest authority, to Moses on Mount Sinai “reflects the purity of His character and outlines the standards of behavior that He regards as normative.” As the apostle, Paul experienced, the battle rages in the mind and body of one who sees the goodness of God’s law and yet feels the pull of the flesh – those sometimes-passionate desires to do what seems more pleasing, but sinful. Paul concluded that he failed due to “the law of sin that dwells in my members” (Romans 7:23). Throughout history, believers have echoed Paul’s next words: “Who will deliver me from this body of death… There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” (Romans 7:24; 8:1).
The birth of Jesus is celebrated around the world, but only the believer in Christ can realize the importance of His birth – He was born to die for the sins of the people of the world. Though the battle against sin will continue, one can know that victory is certain. The law of the Spirit of life is given to those who believe in Jesus as their Savior. You are free to experience love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23).
Intercede for those who have yet to believe and include among them those who serve in the enforcement of the law. And lift your prayers in thanksgiving for God’s perfect gift.
