You Are Made New In Christ

I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me.

Galatians 2:20

If you have been a Christian for a long time, there may seem to be nothing new in your life. You may work at the same job, have the same spouse, go to the same church, and say similar prayers from day-to-day. After the initial salvation experience, and learning what it means to be a Christian, you may wonder, What’s new? The reality is that you are made new in Christ.

The Apostle Paul, in today’s verse, says that he had been crucified in Christ and it was no longer him living, but Christ living within him. That kind of life can generate joy, excitement, and a sense of adventure even as you go about daily life. Paul says that believers are called and designed for good works. “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them” (Ephesians 2:10). Living the life of Jesus means taking our particular “bent,” gifts, talents, and resources to love God and others.

What desires has God put in your heart? What are you passionate about? What are your talents? What have you received from God? How can you use those things to love God and others? God wants you to be about those things and spend less time on the trivial or with bad habits. Does the time and money you spend reflect your God-given priorities? Keep prayer at the top of your to-do list.
