The Prostitute Gomer

🔊Love of my life, look deep into my eyes, there you will find what you need. Give me your life, the lust and the lies, and the past you're afraid I might see. You have been running away from me! It's YOU I died for, let me make you my bride, and COME TO ME! — Jesus.

🔊 Jesus calling you today! His love and mercy for you are RELENTLESS!! He will NOT give up on you despite your sin and your unfaithfulness to Him!

He teaches us so clearly in the story of Hosea and Gomer.

👉🏼God instructed the prophet Hosea to marry a woman named Gomer, who was known to be unfaithful. Despite her unfaithfulness and wandering into the arms of other lovers, the Lord instructed Hosea NOT to give up on her and to persistently pursue her and bring her back home.

💍In obedience to the Lord, Hosea married Gomer, but despite his love and commitment to her, she was unfaithful and returned to her adulterous ways, leaving him to pursue other lovers.

🔃 Instructed by God, Hosea goes to find Gomer to bring her back. He found her in terrible conditions, and he had to buy back his wife, paying fifteen shekels of silver, and one and one-half homers of barley, which was the redemption price to bring his wandering wife back home.

👉🏼Hosea wouldn't have faced judgment had he chosen to end his marriage —BUT, the Lord required Hosea to remain in that marriage, refusing to release him. Why? Because Hosea was meant to represent God's incredible, persistent love and faithfulness toward us, despite our unfaithfulness and sin.

📖"Then the Lord said to me, “Go AGAIN, love a woman who is loved by a lover and is committing adultery, just like the LOVE OF THE LORD for the children of Israel, who look to other gods and love the raisin cakes of the pagans.

"So I bought her for myself for fifteen shekels of silver, and one and one-half homers of barley.  And I said to her, “You shall stay with me many days; you shall not play the harlot, nor shall you have a man—so, too, will I be toward you.” Hosea 3:1-3

💙With his unwavering love and commitment to his unfaithful wife, Hosea brings Gomer back home and promises to be faithful to her once again!

🩸 Just like Hosea didn't give up on his wife, Jesus didn't give up on us! He went to the cross as the ultimate expression of God's love to pay the redemption price for all humanity, rescuing us from a life full of sin. He gave His own life on the cross, shed His precious blood, and is about to bring His bride—His church—home to be with Him forever!

🔊Even as we turn away from God to chase the world and its pleasures, He doesn't abandon us! He doesn't give up on us! He doesn't quit! He continues to pursue us until the day He brings us back to Himself!! HOW CAN WE DESCRIBE A LOVE LIKE THAT?!

Believe Jesus is the Son of God, who shed His blood for you, died on the cross for our sins, He was buried and resurrected during the third day, according to the Scriptures, so we can have eternal life with Him.

The moment you believe in Him and that He died for your sins - you're saved, justified, sealed until the day of redemption, and rapture ready!

The Holy Spirit will come to live inside of you - He will help you, guide you, change you, and be with you FOREVER!

📖"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."

For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." (John 3:16-18)
