THE LORD IS JUDE

The Lord judges the peoples; judge me, O Lord, according to my righteousness and according to the integrity that is in me.       –  Psalm 7:8

Have you ever been wrongfully accused of something? Have you felt overwhelmed by circumstances that were out of your control and felt that an enemy was working against you?

David was undergoing such things in Psalm 7. Cush the Benjamite, acting on behalf of King Saul, was oppressing David. Charles Spurgeon wrote, “It appears probable that Cush the Benjamite had accused David to Saul of treasonable conspiracy against his royal authority.”

David sought justice but feared that the false accuser and the king’s power would keep any kind of earthly justice at bay. He had experienced God’s deliverance in the past and now he prayed for the Lord to vindicate him. David was confident of his innocence and that he had kept his heart right before the Lord, the righteous Judge.

There is a day coming when God will judge every person. His merciful and loving desire that all would come to Him restrains His judgment upon the earth.
