If we are faithless, He remains faithful—for he cannot deny himself. – 2 Timothy 2:13
If you have ever wondered about the depths of God’s faithfulness to you, a quick study of the book of Hosea would give you more understanding. God’s faithfulness is a recurring theme in Hosea’s story, as well as a recurrent theme throughout the entirety of Scripture.
Hosea was a prophet sent to Israel to inform them of their condition before the execution of the Lord’s justice on them. Therefore, they couldn’t say, “We didn’t know.” God used Hosea’s life as an “object lesson,” particularly his marriage to a faithless woman named Gomer. Hosea was called by God to remain faithful to his wife despite her adultery and, through Hosea, the Lord showed the people of Israel—and you today—that He would remain faithful to His people even when they were unfaithful to Him. Hosea may have experienced a broken heart, but he depicted forgiving and compassionate love for Gomer. In the same way, when you wander away from the Lord, His heart of love is hurt, but His love for you remains, and He will never desert you or forsake you.
Have you been tempted to wander from the Lord? Check your own faithfulness quotient today. You can come back to the true Gospel of Jesus Christ, the Only Way to the Father, today. As Hosea 14:2 says, “Take with you words and return to the Lord; and say to him, ‘take away all iniquity; accept what is good.’” Be honest in your confessions toward Him… He is faithful to forgive.
