The young lions suffer want and hunger, but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing. – Psalm 34:10
George Mueller was not always a man of prayer. Growing up, he often stole money from his own father. He drank and gambled and was the life of the party. But the Lord laid on his heart a yearning for God’s saving faith when, while in college, he was invited to a Bible study. It altered the entire direction of his life.
Under God’s leadership and timing, George became a pastor of a small church in England. Then, God provided facilities for an orphanage. Things were sparse at times, but George would pray, and God would provide. It happened one day that there was no food for breakfast for the 300 children in his care. As they all sat at the table, George prayed and thanked God for the food… and waited.
The Lord provided, as He always had, again that morning. The baker, unable to sleep and somehow knowing the orphanage would need food, arrived with bread enough for all. The milkman’s cart broke down in front of the orphanage. Since the milk would spoil before the cart was fixed, he provided the children with ten large cans of milk.
God will also provide for you – “Those who seek the Lord lack no good thing” (Psalm 34:10). He will give you what you need, whether physical or spiritual. You can trust in His goodness. He cares for you.
