QUOTES

Updated: May 23, 2023

We who serve the Lord under His new covenant of grace live with a heavenly treasure in earthen vessels. We are "earthen vessels." Though we are born again through faith in Christ, we still have the same physical body that we had in Adam. "For we know that if our earthly house, this tent [that is, our natural human body], is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands [that is, our glorified, heavenly bodies], eternal in the heavens" (2 Corinthians 5:1).

You never know who God might bring your way to challenge some of your prejudices and fears. Jesus showed us what to do. Welcome, love, and minister to those in need in His Name.

Prayer is not an option in the Christian’s life. It’s both a privilege and an adventure. And it’s something that we need to keep learning about for the rest of our lives.

No one escapes trauma in this life. It’s the human condition. But, through trauma, with Jesus, we can know God more, experience Him in a greater way, and learn to live healed and abundantly.

You didn’t deserve what happened to you. What happened can’t be brushed under the rug. But, God will use it for good in your life and for other’s benefit. Considering that, and because Jesus showed us how to forgive, and glorify God, we’re called to forgive. Who comes to mind for you?

Anything that hinders your JOY in the Lord needs to be brought to the feet of Jesus to be healed.

You’re not too lost for God to find. You’re not too dirty for God to cleanse. You’re not too broken for God to fix. You’re not too wounded for God to heal. You’re not too far gone for God to reach. You’re not too guilty for God to forgive. You’re not too sinful for God to save.

In the same way that God has the inherent interpersonal relationship between the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, Jesus prays that we will be image bearers of God in the way we participate in our own community.

You were built for community. Being individualistic might seem easier (It isn’t.), but we need people. God intended us to know each other, serve each other, love each other, and receive that in return to glorify Him and exemplify Him!

Someone has described prayer as the breath of the newborn soul. Prayer is good and needed in the life of a Christian.

As earthen vessels, we are to live by trusting in the treasure (the Lord Jesus) who dwells within us: "But we have this treasure in earthen vessels" (2 Corinthians 4:7). Also, we are to give Him all honor and glory as He sustains us day by day through the trials of life:

"Salvation is not a reward for the righteous, it is a gift for the guilty." — Steven Lawson

"Backsliding begins with dusty Bibles." — Charles Spurgeon

The ultimate end of true theology is the celebration of the praise of God, and His glory and grace in the eternal salvation of sinners. John Owen

It is a great deed for one man to give his life for another. But for the Son of God, the Creator and Sustainer of the universe, to give His life for sinful man is incomprehensible. Paul Washer

But let me tell you, the whole world is not a theatre large enough to shew the glory of Christ upon or unfold the one-half of the unsearchable riches that lie hidden in Him. John Flavel

The ‘fear of the Lord’ is a sort of fear which has in it the very essence of love, and without which there would be no joy even in the presence of God. Charles Spurgeon

Faith, as Paul saw it, was a living, flaming thing leading to surrender and obedience to the commandments of -A.W. Tozer -

Boldness enables Christians to forsake all rather than Christ, and to prefer to offend all rather than to offend Him -Jonathan Edwards -

Go to the cross of Christ, all you that want to be delivered from the power of selfishness. -J.C. Ryle -

The sermon which does not lead to Christ...will make the devils in hell laugh, but make the angels of God weep. -C.H. Spurgeon -
