God is omniscient but doesn’t respond to mere wishes. We must ask because it’s an act of our free will. Further, we must ask in the name of Jesus. Prayer is a covenant matter: only those in Christ have the authority to ask. Our earthly mission is advancing His Kingdom. Therefore, asking in His name, by default, is requesting that which will enable us to carry out our mission.
Jesus never promised us an easy life, He promised us eternal life!
When the truth is preached, the Spirit of God brings each person face-to-face with God Himself.
"Faith sees the invisible, believes the unbelievable, and receives the impossible." — Corrie ten Boom
A life developed "of the letter" is one built on rules and regulations. We cannot become a child of God by rules; neither can we develop in godliness by regulations. No list of demands (including God's law) could ever bring to us, or develop in us, a life with God. All rules and regulations (including God's law) come without resources. They are a list of requirements, not a supply of adequacy. They call for an observable response, but they provide no power to produce the required effect.
When Paul said in Romans 7:14 that we died to the Law, he didn't mean the Law died. We are the ones who died -- the Law is very much alive -- the change is in us. When we are raised with Christ to a new life, our hearts are transformed by the sacrificial love of God and we now love the Law we once rebelled against.
“Feeling overwhelmed and scrambling to get a better fix on the problem, they will do the only safe thing: they will pull back and assume the stance of objective analysts,”. “Naturally they will go about this in a very warm and godly way with the best of intentions. Yet, without realizing it, by their clinical theorizing, they are effectively withdrawing their human affections, their very friendship, at a time when intimate friendship is most needed.” - Mike Mason
To be His disciples, we must turn over the title deeds of our lives to Christ. We are not actually owners; we are stewards. Everything we have will be passed on to someone else one day.
It is not wrong to have a career, but it is wrong if a career has you. It is not wrong to have possessions, but it is wrong if your possessions have you. Things have their place, but not the most important place.
As Christians, our only real passion and obsession in life should be Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit was sent to the church to bring truth to their remembrance. He would also teach us, and illuminate our hearts and minds. Just as the disciples who walked with Jesus needed One who would be a consistent reminder, so do those who walk with Jesus today. What a comfort it is to have Him and His influence in your daily life!
Never water down the truth of God. Unless it is to a five-year-old. Let it have its way and never apologize for it.
"Today’s mighty oak is just yesterday’s little nut that held its ground.”
It is only the fear of God that can deliver us from the fear of man. ~John Witherspoon~
Augustine taught me that no matter where we are in life, no matter what we’ve done or how far we’ve strayed, it is never too late to come to the Lord and surrender our hearts and wills to His love and mercy. “I came to love you late, O Beauty so ancient and so new,” he wrote. “I came to love you late. You were within me and I was outside, where I rushed about wildly searching for you like some monster loose in your beautiful world. You called me, you shouted to me, and you broke past my deafness. You bathed me in your light, wrapped me in your splendor…you touched me and I burned to know your peace.” May we all long to know His peace with such fervor!
A home is not a building; it is a relational structure. ~Stephen Olford~
"Christians in America have become experts at conviction-and failures at action." We make excuses when God delights in confession and repentance.
"It doesn't matter how slowly you go, as long as you don't stop." —Confucius
KEEP MOVING FORWARD!
I have a hard time when people say stop it's too much for me to handle. Did you ever think just maybe God would be doing a greater work? Maybe our vision is too small. God-size vision requires God-size prayers by unified people who are willing to die to themselves to let God do the work.
There is nothing in the law of God that will rob you of happiness; it only denies you that which would cost you sorrow. ~Charles H. Spurgeon
…The man who prays with fasting is giving heaven notice that he is truly in earnest.
~Arthur Wallis~
There may be challenges or crosses that may have delayed your goals temporarily, but now it’s time to move forward.
