QUOTES

“Thousands acknowledge they are sinners, who have never mourned over the fact.” — A.W. Pink He loves me best who loves me in his prayers. -J.C. Ryle - I can bear anything for Jesus, while His everlasting arms are underneath me! -C.H. Spurgeon -

A stranger to the fear of God is a stranger to the living God Himself. – Al Martin Matthew Barrett blocked me from asking a question a while ago, so I cannot see it for myself. Is it true that he is now promoting the Roman Catholic/mystical practice of Lecto Divina? (FYI: Puritan meditation is different).

The Scriptures of God are my only foundation and substance in all matters of weight and importance. John Knox

"When, therefore, with our eyes fast fixed on Christ we wait upon heaven, and nothing on earth hinders them from bearing us to the promised blessedness, the statement is truly fulfilled 'that where our treasure is, our heart is [Matt 6:21].'" - John Calvin

“A home without a Bible is a ship without a rudder.” - Wilhelmus a Brakel. The Christian’s Reasonable Service, 1:76.

Around the world Christians are persecuted, because they’re a part of the Church. Discomfort is expected & strengthens their faith. In the U.S. people walk away from the Church, because their feelings get hurt. Discomfort shocks us & crushes our faith.

"Indeed, if you only try to do what you can do you will do little; but when in faith you attempt what you cannot alone accomplish, God will be at your back, and in your weakness his strength shall be made clear." - Charles Spurgeon

It is impossible for human, finite minds to understand God completely. That is where faith comes in." #BillyGraham

“There can be no peace between you and Christ while there is peace between you and sin.” ~Spurgeon

The Gospel was not meant merely to reside in our intellect, memories, and tongues, but to be seen in our lives. - @JCRyle

There is a way to joy. The key is walking with our gaze set on Jesus, even when the way is dotted with suffering. ~

What Jesus offered to those in His day is what He still offers to all mankind today – freedom. Freedom from religion, freedom from rituals, freedom from tradition. What He offers instead of rituals and traditions is to make you free.

John 8:36 Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.

Take a violin from its case, tuck it under your chin, and pick up the bow. You are now free to play. But, you say, you’ve never had any lessons on that four-stringed instrument. Moreover, you really can’t read music all that well. Your freedom can only result in screechy, scratchy noise. But with years of practice, discipline, and obedience to lesson plans, you may freely play Mozart, Mendelssohn, or Shostakovich. The same applies to the freedom of living. To be truly free requires the power of personal discipline and the ability to be obedient.

"The safest place in all the world is in the will of God, and the safest protection in all the world is the name of God." — Warren Wiersbe

When considering the triumphant Christian life, we may wrongly think that victory depends upon getting out of impossible situations. Actually, we are already"more than conquerors" even while we are in the midst of the impossibilities.

Jesus does not want to destroy your desire. He wants to fulfill it.

What do you want Jesus to do for you? Let’s not settle any longer for things and choices which never satisfy. Let’s lay down our idols every day and choose Jesus instead.

If we neglect Bible study, our spiritual life ultimately will unravel. Everything we need to know about God is found in His Word. So, let’s follow the example of Jesus and use the word.

The cycle is broken with one moment of surrender, of swallowed pride, and abandoning oneself to the love of God. He never turns away a repentant sinner. He never fails to welcome home a prodigal son, daughter, or nation. He puts people in our lives who love us and can help.

All He asks is that we will remember.
