QUOTES

People: “I worship and follow Jesus.”

Same People: “My Jesus doesn’t judge anyone, affirms all lifestyles, celebrates all faiths, and is only loving.”

Many people aren’t worshiping the Jesus described in the Scriptures, but rather, a made-up Jesus formed by opinions.

"The devil, the world, and the temptations of life would soon erase out of the heart all that God had written there if he did not create it anew with the faculty of holding fast that which is good." - Charles Spurgeon

“When Christ died, he died for you individually just as much as if you had been the only person in the world.” - C.S. Lewis

This is that which Satan principally, in such seasons [of affliction], attacks saints withal, — namely, that God regards them not, that they are fallen under his judgment and severity, as those who have no share in mercy, pardon, or forgiveness. —John Owen, Works 6:580

"God must melt the heart, must transform it from granite into flesh, and he has the power to do it." - Charles Spurgeon

Many teens & college students have already been exposed to & involved in a lot of things. If you’re going to reach young people with the Gospel, you need to have the ability to control your face. When they share something with you…Your facial response can cause further shame.

It is most certain that there are two estates & conditions that divide all mankind, & everyone that lives in the world doth completely, & absolutely belong unto one of them. These are, the state of nature & the state of grace — of sin & of righteousness by Christ. —John Owen

THE GOOD NEWS IS NOT A MESSAGE OF DO YOUR BEST AND GOD WILL DO THE REST, THE GOOD NEWS IS GOD DOES IT ALL.

“So think often of death. Think often of the life and blessedness that lie beyond death for believers. But never think of either life or death without thinking of Christ. And the time to start setting your mind on Christ is . . . right now.” — Guy Prentiss Waters

You don’t have to wait until Easter Sunday to celebrate the risen Savior. The tomb has already been empty for over 2,000 years!

"The law is fully written on the heart when a man takes pleasure in holiness, and feels a deep pain whenever sin approaches him." - Charles Spurgeon

The gospel is not about awesome people becoming more awesome, it’s about wretched sinners being saved by an awesome God.

"It is a glorious thing when the heart delights itself in the law of the Lord, and finds therein its solace and pleasure." - Charles Spurgeon

"Tablets of stone, though apparently durable, can readily enough be broken, and so can God’s commands; so are they indeed broken every day by us, and those who have the clearest knowledge of the will of God nevertheless offend against him." - Charles Spurgeon

"We can rest assured that whatever gifts are appropriate to the job God wants us to do will be given to us." ~ Elisabeth Elliot

"Faith does not eliminate questions. But faith knows where to take them." — Elisabeth Elliot

The ultimate blessing of the new covenant of grace is that it allows people to develop an intimate relationship with the true and living God. We began our personal history greatly separated from God: "you who once were far off." How could we ever comprehend the "vast relational distance" that our sins brought between us and the Lord? We could not relate to God. We could not talk to Him or enjoy His presence. We were "without Christ…having no hope and without God in the world" (Ephesians 2:12).

"Faith is deliberate confidence in the character of God whose ways you may not understand at the time." — Oswald Chambers

here are typically 4 types of people in any church service: 1. those who are lost & know they’re lost 2. those who are lost, but think they’re found 3. those who are found, but think they’re lost 4. those who are found & know they’re found Keep all 4 in mind when preaching.
