QUOTES

The parallels to our culture are obvious. It is clear that we, too, are living in a sex-obsessed culture. Yet God is saying to believers, “As My children, as My beloved, as those who bear the family name wherever you go, stay away from immorality.”

[...]there is pardon for the greatest guilt through faith in Jesus Christ, — that his precious blood, shed on Calvary’s cross, is able to cleanse from all sin of every kind, and that as many as believe in him are saved." - Charles Spurgeon

“Whatever you love more than God is your idol.” D.L. Moody

“Let not a repentant sinner imagine that he is remote from the estate of the righteous because of the sins and misdeeds he has done. This is not true, for he is beloved and precious to God as if he never sinned.” —Malmonides, Mishneh Torah, 1170 A.D.

Don't be afraid to pray when your life feels like you’re in hell. Don’t think you are too far gone, too far away, too miserable, too sinful... do anything to cry out to the Lord. From this very dark and desperate place, our prayers take on real meaning, becoming more passionate and sincere.

Often, when the Bible tells us not to do one thing, it tells us to do another in its place. For instance, in Ephesians 4:28 we read, “If you are a thief, quit stealing. Instead, use your hands for good hard work, and then give generously to others in need” (NLT).

Every day may be filled with challenges, problems, busyness, and troubles. In everything we face, God invites us to lean on Him and His strength to endure, to be encouraged, and to thrive. We are to seek Him and find joy in Him!

Whether or not they realize it, all people lean on —depend on —something: physical strength, intelligence, beauty, wealth, achievements, family, friends, and so on. Until we come to the realization it is God who provides we are always striving without rest. Jesus said come to me who are wiery and heavy laden and I will give you rest.

The consequences of our sins can be redemptive, as in the story of the Prodigal Son. When the son wanted to leave, the father did not put him under lock and key nor prevent him from ruining his life in a far country. He gave him his freedom, even if it led to a pigsty! He gave him over to his own sinful way, and it was that pigsty that snapped him back to his senses and brought him running back into the arms of a loving father who accepted him without hesitation (Luke 15).

God’s wrath is to be respected, even feared with a healthy, smart fear.

But His love is even greater, always keeping the door open for a wayward child to find a way home.

In the closing paragraphs of the Chronicles of Narnia, C.S. Lewis wrote about the death of some of his characters: "For them, it was only the beginning of the real story. All their life in this world...had only been the cover and title page; now, at last, they were beginning Chapter One of the Great Story, which no one on earth has read; which goes on forever; in which every chapter is better than the one before."

C.S. Lewis, The Last Battle, (The Macmillan Co., 1956)

Never are men's hearts in such a hopeless condition as when they are not sensible of their own sins. ~J. C. Ryle~

Unrepented sin is a continued sin. ~Corrie ten Boom~

The problem with the law is it is hard to follow, subject to multiple interpretations, and causes many to get caught up in legalistic wording rather than divine intent.

“Joy is something that we have to choose and then work for.” ― Francis Chan

“When it's hard and you are doubtful, give more.” ― Francis Chan, Crazy Love:

God's definition of what matters is pretty straightforward. He measures our lives by how we love.” ― Francis Chan, Crazy Love:

A Sunday School teacher was talking to her class about forgiveness. She asked her students what a person needs to do to receive forgiveness from God. There was a moment of silence, and then a little boy raised his hand and said, “You have to sin.”

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9 NIV).

As Christians, every day should be our Passover. God has rescued us from death by sending His Son, Jesus Christ, to defeat sin. If you are in Christ, then you are free! We need to remember the deliverance that Jesus Christ brought against the bondage of sin and death. Every day, we should reflect on His goodness.

Every day, we should praise and worship the living God who made eternal life with Him possible. We don't have to live in bondage or condemnation. We are made alive and new.

Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal. ~Thomas V. Moore~

We are all very busy people, pulled in many different directions by distractions that, at times, hinder our ability to hear the Lord. But despite all the distractions, Jesus is speaking to us.

The broken spirit and the contrite heart are the abiding

marks of the believing soul.

~John Murray~
