"Grace makes no man proud." —

I think we delight to praise what we enjoy because the praise not merely expresses but completes the enjoyment; it is its appointed consummation.
- C S Lewis Born 29 November 1898
"When the Spirit of God once takes a soul in hand we should be cautious how we take the work out of His hand, and speak peace before God Himself has spoken it, and thereby deceive." -
Mary Winslow.
On the day of judgment, “God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life,” will save no one when God unleashes His wrath upon the unrighteous. Christ alone is our only righteousness.
“Pray for all the congregations that meet on this day in the fear of the Lord; that the dew of the Spirit may fall with the manna of the word; that some souls may be converted, and others strengthened.” Thomas Watson

Ah! how much more do we find our souls overcome with his love, when at any time he is pleased to make any clear discoveries of his glory unto us! - John Owen
“Angels We Have Heard on High” was first published in 1855 in the French songbook Nouveau Recueil de cantiques, and records indicate that the song had been used in church masses for more than fifty years before that publication.
Isn’t it a lovely thought that a song we sing probably every single year may have been sung by our brothers and sisters in Christ since nearly the beginning of the Church? Since very near to the time of Jesus Himself? And, its meaning is powerful and rejoicing!
The Bible tells us, “We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments” (2 Corinthians 10:4 NLT).
Wake up, see your own wretchedness, and fly to the Lord Jesus. He is the righteousness of God, for He Himself is God. Only by believing in His righteousness will you be delivered from condemnation.

God’s people had a great anticipation of their King because it was written in Scripture:
Our view of God determines our relationship with God. When we come to Him, we come as broken people who need healing. But doubting His love will keep us at a distance, just as the Jewish authorities wanted to keep the blind and lame at a distance.
We have to remind ourselves that we are His sons and daughters. He wants us. We haven’t received a spirit that makes us slaves; instead, we have God’s Spirit and we’ve been adopted as His own children. We can call Him Abba, Father.
“How sweet the name of Jesus sounds, in a believer’s ear! It soothes his sorrows, heals his wounds, and drives away his fear.” ~ John Newton

4 things I’ve learned: 1. My primary aim: know Christ. 2. My primary task: proclaim Christ. 3. My primary goal: glorify in Christ. 4. My primary hope: is only Christ.
In beholding his beauty, the angels do day and night entertain and feast their souls and in celebrating it do they continually employ their praises.
Jonathan Edwards
An awesome responsibility rests on the pastor. There’s a saying that a river never rises higher than its source; and, normally, the pastor forms the spiritual culture of the church. If he’s a praying man, you’ll have a praying church.
Leonard Ravenhill
