"Eternity to the godly is a day which has no sun-setting; and to the wicked, a night which has no sun-rising." -Thomas Watson.

“If you were as dead as you imagine yourself to be, from whence then does this displeasure with your condition proceed? A dead person does not have any feelings. However, the fact that you are sensible of your insensitivity shows that there is life, though it is feeble.”

"Sinner, wait upon the Lord, and hearken diligently unto the message of his gospel; be thou constantly searching the Scriptures, or listening to his truth as it is proclaimed in thine ears." - Charles Spurgeon

Fundamentally, the work of God's grace takes place within human hearts. "It is good that the heart is established by grace" (Hebrews 13:9). Yet, whenever grace is at work in lives, visible indicators inevitably appear: "When he came and had seen the grace of God." This statement raises for our consideration the observable nature of the grace of God.

Are you waiting? Are you weak? You’re in good company. Believers throughout the ages have waited and found God to be so present. So good. Rest in your In Him today.

Jesus gave us a model of what to do in times of uncertainty. He prayed, “Not as I will, but as You will.” We are not going to know the will of God in every situation. In those times when we don’t know the will of God, will we let Him choose for us? We must never be afraid to place an unknown future into the hands of a known God.

For Jesus to be Lord of your life means that He is the ruler, the boss, and the master of your whole life. He cannot be Lord of a part—He must be given control of the entire life––the whole life.

~Rodger D. Willmore~

From Genesis to Revelation, you will find Jesus revealed as the Christ. God used the prophets of the Old Testament to tell God’s people their Messiah was coming. Yet how many people were so busy with their lives that they failed to witness the miracle of His birth?

In the New Testament, John the Baptist, the messenger, pointed people to Christ. Do not get so busy with your life that you miss the real reason for Christmas––it is Christ. Know this: With the knowledge of His birth comes a choice. Will you allow Jesus to be the Ruler of your life?

Why in God’s Name do you want compliments? It shouldn’t matter to us if they curse us, or kick us, or kiss us, or what they do! If you’re in the Will of God, that’s the most gorgeous place on this side of eternity. Leonard Ravenhill

Turn to the Bible, for there is in it the very word you need.

A man can counterfeit love, he can counterfeit faith, he can counterfeit hope, and all the other graces, but it is very difficult to counterfeit humility. You soon detect mock humility.

D.L. Moody

The Gospel is God’s heart in print, and it’s precious promises are heaven’s truths translated into man’s language. —

William Gurnall, The Christian in Complete Armour, 2:265

"Go to those hands which are the trackways of divine justice; go to those feet which are the pathways of infinite love; explore that side where deep affection dwells, and you shall find fatness of mercy dropping there." -

Charles Spurgeon

God is the Almighty Judge who brings one person down while exalting another with purposes and timing only He understands. His creatures may respond to His mysterious ways with bitterness, indifference, or praise. Given these alternatives, I choose to praise.

"Life is a working day." -Hannah More.

What a solid satisfaction is it to reflect that our ascended Lord views us with a pitying and sympathetic eye. - William Wilberforce

There are many in hell, who would be glad to change conditions with you, as bad as you think yours to be. —

Puritan John Flavel (1627-1691), Works 1:365

"I believe many of you are lean and starved because you are not obedient to your Lord’s command in Baptism. You know what he bids you do, but you stand back from it." -

Charles Spurgeon

Thanksgiving and praise always go together. “Sing praises to the LORD, O you his saints, and give thanks to his holy name” (Ps 30:4). We cannot rightly worship God without also being thankful.

A life of love for Christ and communion with Christ is the happiest life of all.

Jonathan Edwards
