PAUL IN PRISON

VBS Day 3

6-29-2022

RECAP

MONDAY: We talked about obedience and the opposite of it. We talked about our memory verse John13:17

Who can say John 13:17 by heart?

Let’s say it together…

“If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.

We also talked about repentance and asking Jesus into our hearts.

What does that mean?

Tuesday: We talked about the fear of the Lord.

Teacher Marry told you what the fear of the Lord is.

Who can tell me what the fear of the Lord is?

And teacher Marry said if we fear God if we love Him and reverence Him then we will want to please Him.

We talked about the verse of the day.

Who remembers it?

Blessed is everyone who fears the LORD, Who walks in His ways.

So, up till this time what have we learned from the skit?

PAUL IN PRISON

Today!

Paul is in prison and he writes to the church of Philippi to teach them about being thankful in prayer.

The furtherance of the gospel, through trials and tribulation.

He tells them to live, is Christ and to die is to gain.

Only let your conduct be worthy of the gospel of Christ.

He talks about being humble and having humility.

He goes on to say we are light-bearers. Meaning the gospel is the light that shines in the darkness.

He told us to press forward toward the goal of heaven.

He said in this world we are strangers passing through.

And now in Philippians 4 in prison, Paul will talk about rejoicing.

PHILIPPIANS 4:4-9

4 Rejoice in the Lord always. Again, I will say, rejoice!

Paul starts off with rejoice always.

Rejoicing is a choice; you choose to rejoice.

Feelings and emotions are things you choose.

5 Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand.

This means, let your helpfulness and the way you speak, be known to all men.

6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;

Anxious: worried, concerned, apprehensive, fearful

Supplication: the action of asking or begging for something with humility:

7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Meditate on These Things

8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report

if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.

Virtue: means righteousness and pure

9 The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.

Heb.6:12 says, to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

Talk about the Abraham Isaac and Jacob.

The promised land

The children of Israel

Numbers 14:11-38 Wandering In The Wilderness
