Once Saved - Always Saved?

Once saved - always saved? YES!!

When we come to know Christ as our Savior, our salvation is eternal and secure - if it gets taken away, it was never "eternal" to begin with. Our eternal security is purchased by Christ, promised by the Father, and sealed by the Holy Spirit!

1. Salvation: The moment we come to Jesus admitting we are sinners, believing in Him - in His blood, in the work of the cross. Believing and trusting wholeheartedly that He died for us, was buried and resurrected -- we are ⟪saved⟫. Once we believe in Him and are justified - our salvation is guaranteed! If we could lose eternal life - it only means that God didn't give us a life that was "eternal" after all. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have → eternal life." (John 3:16)

2. Sealed by the Holy Spirit: At the moment we are saved, the Holy Spirit comes to live inside of us. The Holy Spirit helps us to walk in obedience, guides us, comforts us, and gives us understanding, wisdom, knowledge - and anything we need. The most important part is that He ⟪seals⟫ us until the day of redemption, which is the rapture!! If we are sealed by the Holy Spirit when we're saved, that means that when we lose salvation, we will be un-sealed and un-indwelt by the Holy Spirit. There is no evidence of any of this in the Bible. "In Him, you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise." (Ephesians 1:13) "The Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you." (John 14:17)

3. New Creation: When we are saved we're born again and we become a new creation. He gives us a new heart. If we lose the salvation that means that we would have to be un-born and un-regenerated. The Bible gives no evidence that the new birth can be taken away. How can you be unborn? "Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God" (John 3:3) Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. (2 Corinthians 5:17)

4. We are secured in Christ: Nothing can separate us from God. His blood has covered our sins, so our sins are non-existent, so they can't separate us any longer from God. When we're saved no sin or anything can separate us from God. If we lose salvation, that means that we were never secure in Christ. How does that feel for salvation? "For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is *in* Christ Jesus our Lord."

5. Works: We're saved by grace through faith alone, not by works. Our salvation is fully completed on the cross! There is NOTHING we can add to salvation!

Jesus shed His blood for us! Just like He said! "It's finished!!" - That's the end. We're not co-saviors! There is only ONE Savior, Jesus Christ!! Works are for rewards, not for salvation!

" For by grace, you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9)

There is no evidence in the Bible that God will take salvation away from us, or that He will un-seal us, un-indwelt us, un-regenerate us, un-born us, or that we have to do works to get saved.

The same God who saved you is the same God who will keep you. Once we are saved, we are always saved. Our salvation is most definitely eternally secure! Our eternal security is purchased by Christ, promised by the Father, and sealed by the Holy Spirit!
