Imagine a child sitting on the edge of a roof. Believing he is Superman, he is contemplating jumping.
His future life is in the balance. One parent affirms their child's belief; encouraging them to embrace their impulse, and jump off the roof.
Another parent rejects their child's belief; dissuading them from acting on their impulses, and talking them off the literal and metaphorical ledge.
Which of these parents is demonstrating love for their child? The one that affirms, or the one who corrects?
If you are like me you say neither of them. But AS A CHILD LIVING IN NYC I USE TO DO THAT ALL THE TIME. WE HAD ROUTINES OF JUMPING FROM ROOF TO ROOF AND YARD TO YARD.
I DON'T THINK YOU WOULD SEE THIS ANYWAY WITH VIDEO GAMES, NO IMAGINATION. I say if you are going to do it be safe then teach them how.
