⟫ Did the thief on the cross believe in Jesus? Yes.
⟫ Did he acknowledge he was a sinner? Yes.
⟫ Was he baptized? No.
⟫ Did he have anything to offer to Jesus? No.
⟫ Did he do anything for Jesus? No. He was totally helpless!
While Jesus was dying on the cross, in the midst of His excruciating pain - while both thieves joined the mockery and blasphemy coming out of the soldiers. Jesus prayed to God and said. “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” One thief responded in faith - while the other one didn't.
The one thief heard the Spirit of God calling him to repentance and acceptance of the forgiveness God was just about to provide through the death of Christ. This man answered the call and his sins were forgiven -including his blasphemy.
The other thief rejected Jesus and insulted Him. He witnessed the salvation of the other thief, but his pride kept him from accepting Jesus. One day he will bow to the Name he mocked reluctantly while the other thief will bow willingly.
What we learn here is that we're all sinners in need of a savior, and that Savior is Jesus! No matter the number of our sins, it's never too late to repent and accept the free gift of salvation.
He shows us that salvation is by acknowledging our sins, repenting, and believing that Jesus is Lord of Lords, and King of Kings - that's all the thief did. There were no works involved- just believing!!
Time is short! God is calling you just as He called these two thieves in their very last hour! How are you going to respond? Don't let your pride get in your way! Accept the gift of salvation!!
Look at Jesus today! He died for your sin, was buried, and rose again to give you eternal life!!
Believe in Him NOW! Accept Him, this could be your last call!
