Jesus Is Our Hope!Good News, Pt. 1Isaiah 9:6-7

Isaiah 9:6, For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting

Father, Prince of Peace.

Isaiah 9:1, Nevertheless, there will be no more gloom for those who were in distress. In the past, he humbled the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, but in the future

he will honor Galilee of the nations, by the Way of the Sea, beyond the Jordan— 2 The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep

darkness a light has dawned.

How Can Jesus Be Your Hope?

1. Because He Has a Heavenly HERITAGE

Isaiah 9:6, For to us a child is born, to us a son is given…

Isaiah 7:14, Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.

Luke 1:34, “How will this be,’ Mary asked the angel, ‘Since I am a virgin?’ 35 The angel answered, ‘The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So, the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God.”

2. Because He Can Carve Through Your CONFUSION

Isaiah 9:6, …And he will be called Wonderful Counselor…

Isaiah 28:29, All this also comes from the LORD Almighty, whose plan is wonderful, whose wisdom is magnificent.

Isaiah 25:1, LORD, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done wonderful things, things planned long ago.

Hebrews 4:15, For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have One who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet He did not sin.

3. Because He Holds the Ultimate POWER

Isaiah 9:6, …And he will be called… Mighty God…

Psalm 24:8, Who is this King of Glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle.

Mark 4:37, A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat so that it was nearly swamped. 38 Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, don’t You care if we drown?” 39 He got up, rebuked the wind, and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.

4. Because He Was There From the BEGINNING

Isaiah 9:6, …And he will be called… Everlasting Father…

Isaiah 63:16, But you are our Father, though Abraham does not know us or Israel acknowledge us; you, LORD, are our Father, our Redeemer from of old is your name.

John 8:58, “Very truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “Before Abraham was born, I am!”

Jeremiah 31:3, “Yea, I have loved you with an Everlasting Love” …

5. Because He Is the Only One Who Brings Lasting PEACE

Isaiah 9:6, …And he will be called… Prince of Peace.

John 14:27, “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

Romans 15:13, May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
