How Well-Acquainted Are You With God

Agree with God, and be at peace. – Job 22:21

How well acquainted are you with God? Sure, you are aware that He exists, and you recognize some of His attributes, and maybe have experienced His provision. But are you truly acquainted? The Collins English Dictionary says that if you are acquainted with someone you have a piece of personal knowledge as a result of the study, experience, and direct information, and you are probably in social contact. In other words, you have a relationship. Many claim a relationship with God based on ceremony or formality, but on a personal level have little in the way of fellowship.

In other translations, today’s verse says, “Acquaint thyself with Him” (KJV), “Be reconciled with Him” (NASB), “Submit to God” (NIV), or “Get to know God” (ISV). All of the versions agree that the resulting benefit of agreeing, being acquainted, reconciled, submitted, or getting to know Him is being at peace. How wonderful is that?

Do you have personal evidence of His mercy, His love, and His faithfulness toward you? How conversant are you with God? He is the answer to all the problems you face. Follow the dictionary definition and expand your acquaintance with Him through study, experience, and direct information. Learn, listen, and obey and you will receive His peace.
